The quaility of the film taken would look terrible on hd. They need to get the studio's online before they start making hd disks.

There is one BR in the works: Hey Baby. There are HD quality masters around. They are unreleased for now.

My friend's Fiance just came back from India, and she was telling me that Bollywood have plans to go BD exclusive, when the studios go online.

i also asked this question before, would really be nice to see some Bollywood on BD, titles like Don, Dhoom 2 and others can also be highly enjoyed by the west if correctly subtitled, presented with good quality PQ & SQ

not to mention seeing all those HOT!! girls in the music scenes

I go to India a few times a year on business. They are still using VCDs and Most cars are considered highend if they have a cassette player. I wouldnt expect India to jump on to either format til a couple years after the format war is over.

True. But, given India's sheer population and seemingly unwavering interest in the "masala" movies (dances, western-style gun slinging, et al.), adoption by even a small percentage turns out to be huge in absolute numbers.

Sony has a significant presence in India and perhaps SPHE can start "visiting" the big production houses... Being an Indian expat, I know that "sweetening" of deals work very well there...

My $0.02.

Rup.
