My sisters 1080p LG television is having a weird problem when I switch the Blu-Ray player settings over to 1080p..
White specs appears all over the screen, and it even cuts out with a loud popping and a static signal. It's very very weird, have not had this problem before. I've tried different HDMI cables, and a different Blu-Ray player and it does the same thing. It accepts 720p and 1080i perfectly fine, but changing to 1080p, massive problems. Does anyone know what could have caused this? is it reparable? |

![]() This is my own recording, when i change the player settings from 1080i to 1080p. Everything below 1080p looks perfect. When I can get it better than that, it still has white flecks jumping all around... I can get it to this by pushing the cable in as hard as I can.. What I don't understand is the part that signals below 1080p work fine. SkyTV is 1080i which is the regular HDMI signal going through. |

NTSC is the video system or standard used in North America and most of South America. In NTSC, 30 frames are transmitted each second. Each frame is made up of 525 individual scan lines. PAL is the predominant video system or standard mostly used overseas. In PAL, 25 frames are transmitted each second. Each frame is made up of 625 individual scan lines. Maybe the tv is set to PAL and players are on NTSC .. if is not this just reset your tv to factory settings. |

Didnt realize you checked multiple ports on the TV. It sure sounds like a problem with the HDMI signal path on the TV.
So is it worth fixing? Under warranty? Otherwise you may just want to set it 1080i until it is replaced, but if the HDMI board is starting to fail it may eventually exhibit the same problem with the less data intensive signal. Last edited by Tok; 09-20-2012 at 12:23 AM. |

If the player is a PS3 try this:
try this setting on the PS3: on the XMB, go to settings, then display settings select Deep Color Output (HDMI) and set it to off and lo and behold, no more snow effect or flickering!!!! |

what is this Deep Colour thing? I haven't plugged in my Panasonic DMP-BD60 to see if there is a Deep Colour option on that yet. |
