Sony offered replacement discs for The Fifth Element.

The DigiBook has the same disc as the one in the standard keepcase.

Returns was the first thing that came to mind because I remember the fuss on here about it at the time. Checking copies at every store, andif they got more, you check those to see if it had True HD. It was like trying to find a Golden Ticket. lol

Hoosiers (MGM) - The AVC re-release is by far superior to the original MPEG-2 release.
Equilibrium (Echo Bridge 6 pack) - Best PQ other than JP disc and in correct AR. Also, has the best audio mix (DTS-HD MA 5.1) worldwide.

but there was 2 releases before the digibook I believe. I had the crappy one while my parents a year or two later bought the updated one. Maybe I'm wrong but I swear they redid it.

People have always been disappointed with Goodfellas, especially that one scene where you can see a vertical scratch on the film print.

Rambo (Lionsgate) - Theatrical Cut followed by Director's Extended Cut
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (Echo Bridge) - Finally released with a better transfer

I'll hold off on counting director's/extended cuts as double dips since they are "different" movies.

Well, the ones released by both Criterion and their original rights holders aren't gonna be offered with rebates/disc exchange programs for obvious reasons.

I'm really referring to situations where the studios are "fixing" things but don't want to help ease the cost of upgrading.
