New Sony TV ad for Blu-ray fudges number of releases? - Blu-ray Forum

Just seen the new Sony tv ad for Blu Ray and at the end it says over 1000 discs are available--thats is rubbish---what do you think.

errrr...

Well I am sure you would have to triple dip on some imports, but there aer 1000. I think.

Is that ad in the UK only ? Haven't seen that one.

As per the 1000 number ... Is it 1000 titles?

I dunno, maybe by adding some BD that exist in Japan only, and in France maybe (local movies unavailable in the US) ?

Maybe the ad is alluding to something that has not been announced yet.

Lets just hope that people that have seen the ad (i am not one of them yet) dont go do research. It could backfire...

theres speculation about a bda meeting next week. Maybe has something to do with it? IDK.

there are around 350 bd out around 330 hd dvd including para titles

what exatly did the add say mite be refering the the thousands of titels that will be offered

I'm sure if you count the country specific versions separately, e.g. Japanese Spiderman Trilogy and U.S. Spiderman trilogy there's probably over 1000. Hey, that's marketing. They are separate versions.

It's just Blu-Ray propaganda. Both sides use propaganda, especially Toshiba.

1000 titles that is a stretch I think but both sides play the same game none of them are above it no matter the studio honestly.

Would like to see the ad. Which channel and then did you see the commercial? Was it about games and movies? Many Blu-ray titles (games) have been released for Playstation 3 and I know that Sony does count these as Blu-ray software (and correctly so).

A voiceover or text on the ad itself? I don't remember seeing that claim on the ad I saw (the falling cars one).

A caption does appear at the end saying Full HD 1080, you're not getting mixed up with that are you??

Amazon UK lists 950 BluRay titles. I am not so sure if it's rubbish or not.
