![]() ![]() Spiders 3D (2012) SPIDERS centers on mutant spiders created by pieces of material from a disabled Soviet space station. With New York City threatened to be overrun, it's up to health inspector Rachel Cole to prevent the Queen Spider from uniting with her eggs and creating a full on army of five foot tall, killer spiders. Release March 12, 2013 - Direct to 3DBR Amazon 19.99 Pre-order Soooooo........... Anyone else kind of excited about this? Looks like a fun flick, the 3d looks pretty good as well. I'll probably be preordering a copy here soon. |

Here's a cool interview with the director, towards the bottom they ask him about shooting in 3d and he talks a little about the everyday duties. Good news though I took from it is that the movie was actually shot in 3d, not converted. In a separate interview it was said the CGI took over a year to develop. Not too shabby considering this thing was funded on a budget that matches that of a direct to TV movie.
click me I didn't catch it at first but this is directed by Tibor Takács, definitely well known. He's also behind a lot of the goofy / fun Sy-fy cheesy monster movies. That was enough to sell me, I'll pre-order next payday ![]() |

Were you able to check this one out yet? I saw it in Best Buy today for 16.99 in 3D if I wasn't mistaken. I read somewhere the 3D wasn't up to par, but not sure how true it is since this was said to be filmed in 3D. |

saw this a few weeks ago. not terrible, but not as fun as it could've or should've been. the acting was atrocious and the story is pretty bland for a giant spider movie. the effects were great - the cgi was much better than your typical syfy fare, but the 3d was just average.
worth seeing if you're into the genre, but a lot of wasted potential. |

Not yet, we're going to watch it tonight though and I'll share my thoughts. With movie from this director, and in 3d, and based on super spiders from outer space.. One must get the in proper frame of mind to enjoy (beers!). So I held off for a viewing tonight. ![]() |

I watched a bit of it. It is very much a sy-fy movie of the week kind of picture. The opening shots from space have strong 3D but the next ten minuets that I watched were fairly mild.

3D is pretty good, but suffers from the same bright highlight issue as The Final Destination. Where the light reflects into each lens differently. As for the movie, oh man its horrid. I haven't seen acting this bad EVER. The main actor acts like a teenager. CGI was maybe a little better than a basic Sy-Fy movie. It made me love bait even more, at least they tried in that movie!

I thought the effects were a notch above (maybe 2 or 3 notches above) those found in most SYFY Channel films. I especially liked the attempt at stop-motion-esque animation in the scenes with the queen spider, which is fitting since director Tibor Takacs is a fan of that special effects technique, having used it in his films The Gate and I, Madman. I paid $16.99, and I thought it was worth it. The 3D is mostly backgrounds, but there are a few pop-out effects--a piece of lumber here, a traffic light there. I did have some trouble getting my Samsung Blu-Ray 3D player and/or my Panasonic 3D TV to play the 3D disc correctly. Both the 2D and 3D versions are on the same disc, and even though I selected 3D movie on the disc, it played the film in something that was blurry, causing me to have really bad eyestrain the first few times. I finally shut everything down and started again, and this time it played correctly. I am a fan of giant bug on the loose films, and I thought this was fun.
