Default A Scanner Darkly worth it?

just got back from best buy where I purchased full metal jacket with a gift card ending in a $5 payment for that movie and I impulse bought a scanner darkly. Just wanted some opinions if its worth keeping or should I return it for another one. Was thinking memoirs of a Geisha. Good movie.

And WHY THE HELL is league of extraordinary gentlemen $35 EVERYWHERE?!?!

I quite liked A Scanner Darkly. It very different and took me a while to get used to the style of it, but I think it was done very well.

As to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, it's a Fox title isn't it? That would explain the high price .. Check Amazon, I think most of the Fox titles are $27.95 there.

I have the movie, it is "interesting" to watch. You have to be in the right frame of mind to get into it.

Visually it is amazing what they did for this. Story is a bit out there and the ending has a twist.

If your not sure you would watch it more than once or twice, return it and get another movie, but rent it for the experience.

cool, i like "out there" movies so I'll probably keep it. And for league, it was just upsetting because it was one of two movies I really want on BD right now along with day after tomorrow which i fortunately found at my target for $30 plus my 10% discount. But, yeah, I'll pick up league eventually on amazon, just makes me angry cuz thats my luck, the one i want is the most expensive.

and spiderman trilogy is 60.99 at BB. didnt know that until tonight. Wish I had more money...

Loved the movie (out there is an understatement), and before I watched Ratatouille today, it was by far the best-looking of my 40 or so BD titles.

Well worth the money.

In terms of movie quality you have to be a fan of a movie like Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas to even get drawn into it.

In terms of PQ I HIGHLY recommend. Everyone should have at least one animated Blu-Ray title because the image just pops.

I also loved this disc. The movie was one of those that grew on me after I watched it.

I had initially rented it. After about a week, I decided to buy it. It looks fantastic BTW.

I loved this movie. It's way, way out there.

Memoirs of a Geisha is also a nice one (need to confess...I have both) but in terms of sticking to your mind and making you think, it's no context, A Scanner Darkly hands down.

enjoy

i want to get this movie but the lack of audio quality does kind of prevent me from buying it unless it went on sale at best buy

I really enjoyed Scanner. I thought Robert Downey Jr & Rory Cochrane's performances were fun to watch plus the animation was excellent.

I couldn't get past by the animation or whatever its called. I first saw that technique in a commercial and thought it was distracting, then they end up making an entire movie with it.

League of Gentlemen is available at Frys for $13.99 right now.

As for Scanner Darkly, I couldn't get into it.

Edit:
Never mind. I just saw that the OP asked this question a long time ago.

You might get a better understanding if you check out the Wikipedia page.

That is one of the reasons I love Philip K. Dick movies they aren't mindless in your face movies they actually get the wheels in your brain turning.

That's the same reaction that me and my girl friend had when we watched it.
