Default BD/DVD Combo Packs Fading Away?

Am I the only one to notice the lack of BD/DVD combo packs for the last few weeks? Some examples of BD/UV only titles: 12 Years a Slave, Thor: The Dark World, All Is Lost, & The Counselor. It concerns me because I was hoping the studios were moving away from DVD only SKUs and going with BD and BD/DVD combo packs. Anyone have any thoughts on this recent change?

I'm just fine with not having to pay for a DVD that I'll never use.

Did they actually drop the price along with the DVD?

I plan on getting Out of the Furnace next week & noticed it will not have the DVD with it. Also picked up All is Lost recently & noticed that. I dunno, I like getting the DVD in the combo packs but I don't really know why. I guess it feels like you are getting more for your money when you get BD/DVD, even though the DVD doesn't serve much purpose these days.

12 Years A Slave ($19.99 @ Best Buy)
Thor: The Dark World ($18.96 @ Walmart)
All Is Lost ($16.99 @ Best Buy)
The Counselor ($19.99 @ Best Buy)

These were all new release prices. I'm pretty sure those are all less than $20.

$19.99 is $20 to me especially with tax included. And $19.99 just for a BD is expensive

I like getting the DVD because I sell it (minus kids/family titles) to offset the cost. A DVD only of a new release can fetch a few bucks or more.

But they wouldn't have been more expensive, if there was a DVD included?

Yeah the studios are scam artists! New movies should be 5 dollars or less!

It costs pennies to press a DVD. There's also the fact they are usually just the movie only.

not when it comes to free shipping. don't know how many times places online have put things on sale for 1 cent less than what it takes to get free shipping!

I which these would fade away but I haven't noticed it yet. I have been seeing a lot of releases for years now where you can buy bluray, dvd or a combo pack - especially those "triple-play" with blu, dvd and ultraviolet. To me, it is a dumb idea. With HD-DVD, it was good as they had it on the same disc so one side was HD and the other standard but I don't see any benefit to selling both in a pack. You would think it would hurt sales - I generally give my dvd copies to family so they don't have to buy so every combo pack I buy is a dvd sale they lose.

It cost them pennies. It doesn't cost me pennies. If any of the titles you listed had included a DVD, they would have costed at least $3 more total. 12 Years A Slave would've been $22.99 instead of $19.99.

$19.99 for a movie is expensive? For a new release?

I agree. $20 is ridiculous for a DVDless new movie/new release, particularly if no DC/slipcover is included.
