Is there any official reasoning why any Blu-ray upcoming has been removed from sale at Amazon?
Just a quick check and I noticed True Detective, Lego Movie, Nutty Professor and 300 Rise of an Empire all removed. |

There was a thread where this was being discussed just last week but I can't seem to find it at the moment. From what others were saying WBshop also has pulled pre-orders. It seems there is a problem on Warner Brothers end and Amazon is choosing to play it safe until things get sorted out.

This was posted in another thread wondering about Amazon's preoders with Warner by member MifuneFan:

I noticed this yesterday though when I was trying to check Amazon's price for True Detective and Lego Movie and neither showed up as available. |

It's not just preorders. I was on a big DC Comics kick recently and purchased several DVD sets (that I figure aren't coming out on Blu any time soon) like Flash: The Complete Series, the 4 Adventures of Superman sets, Wonder Woman: The Complete Series etc. Most of these were $11.99 each for weeks. The WW set (which is 3 individual seasons in a box) was around $30. I was going to buy the Smallville complete series set which was hovering around $110 for weeks but I was waiting for my payday.
Like two days before my payday Smallville jumped in price to an all-time high of $306 and this is basically full SRP. All these other items I had luckily purchased in the days before also skyrocketed in price. As people have already discussed, Amazon has a history of playing hardball with companies like Nintendo and (currently) Hachette. My guess is there is some kind of similar dispute at play here and they're pulling preorders and basically sitting on their existing WHV stock at unreasonable prices so nobody will buy their product. That, in turn, means Amazon isn't turning to WHV to replenish their stock. They also don't currently have the Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm St blu box sets in stock. Or the first Dark Knight Trilogy box, and the Ultimate Dark Knight Trilogy is similarly ridiculously-priced at 90% SRP. Last edited by GuruAskew; 05-29-2014 at 03:18 PM. |

While trying to find the cause of Amazon's pull of pre-sales, I found an article on information regarding Loony Tunes facing the same situation on Amazon, among other Warner Brother titles.
Here is a piece of the article: Quote:
So.....this MIGHT be a glitch on Amazon's part...but if that's the case, you'd THINK they would get that fixed by now, cause it could cause them to lose A LOT of sales. |

Sounds like Amazon screwed up pretty badly then. It is odd that Wbshop had all pre-orders unavaiable to order for a few days last week too, but they're back to normal. It made it seem like it as on Warner's end, but it does seem likelier now to be a glitch on Amazon's side.
Newer announced titles like Any Given Sunday's 15th anniversary have not been affected. Nor are any Warner releases of Paramount titles, or Warner Archive titles from what I've noticed. |

Nearly all Warner pre-rders within a certain time frame were taken down. Anything after that incident happened, like Any Given Sunday were not affected. It does sound like some sort of glitch to me.

Your post has nothing to do with the pre-order situtation. The whole Amazon playing hardball theory makes little sense since they still sell Warner titles, including some pre-orders. If they were having a dispute, they'd pull down everything.
edit: I'd even say the jump to full MSRP for Smallville sounds like a glitch Last edited by MifuneFan; 05-29-2014 at 03:45 PM. |

I posted in the retailer thread abou this, speculating if it has anything to do with the WB lawsuit against Amazon 3rd party sellers last year?
I sure hope this is just a simple glitch! For me, my next WB preorder BD is Alexander due next Tuesday. Typically I receive my Amazon shipping emails on Sat/Sun, and NLT Monday. So I guess we should know by then, if this worse than expected. For this week I did preorder Longmire and received a shipping email this Monday for delivery on Thursday(a 2 day delay). |

Amazon had removed the Nikita Season 4 pre-order and pre-orders still shipped (at least, mine did).
If I'm guessing, I'm guessing that Amazon is electronically tied into WB's system and the issue is on WB's end. Given that it temporarily affected the WBShop site, too, I'm guessing WB fixed the issue with regard to the WBShop, but Amazon is still affected. Nikita seemed to be available for ordering again once the street date hit, so I don't think there are any strong arm tactics going on here. The downside to keeping existing pre-orders is that without an active listing, Amazon's pre-order price guarantee is going to be useless. I cancelled my True Blood pre-order since I can't count on them to match Target's $34.99 price (my pre-order was at $39.99 and I have to go to Target that day anyway) when they aren't even selling it. |
