I dont think they have confirmed anything like that. but if it starts in oct and the movie is supposed to be out in "winter" it might be 12 or 13 episodes...so the season would end and lead into that theatrical release.

so yeah, with 4 episodes down I think its safe to say that psycho pass 2 is pretty damn great.

I have seen the first seven episodes of S2 and so far it is really good! Can't wait for the Blu Ray. I hope a complete box with the movie and the extended versions is forthcoming.

I hope it's in a crooked box, too - to match up with the the first season...

OK, so I've heard from two different people (a guy and a gal) that have both told me the second season was really bad... so which is it?

its not as excellent as the original, but I thought it was still really good.

It wasn't as good.

I mean, it's still watchable, but the writing for the first season was better. I think part of the problem is they start off slow like with season 1, but they only have one cor this time. So the show ended soon after it started to really take off.

The first season felt like a series of mini-arcs that came together to make the overall story -- which is a very Seinfeld-way of building a story. The second season seems to be a single linear plot that just has a few twists added in late in the story instead.

It's five parts and apparently you have to go to his blog to really see it because of wanting to use show footage and YouTube blocking him.

I was interested... but after listening to him blather on for almost four minutes of that 12 minute video just talking about the reasons we should go to his site instead I lost interest.

To summarize some key points: the staff is entirely different, Makishima is a better villain than the new guy, and Akane's character arc is reset from the first season. Final point: the second season is ultimately pointless and changes nothing.

I understood that -- the problem was when I heard "this is a five-part, two-hour comparison"... two hours! and seeing how much time he wasted yaking away without even starting. Just gave me an idea the content to noise ratio in his analysis would be poor.

Well the first season changed nothing as well. They made this point specifically by having a reenactment of the opening scene at the end, except with Akane playing the "senpai in the field" welcoming the new girl and giving her the no-coddling talk.

[Show spoiler]But I agree the characters were some of big weaknesses in the second season. The new-new characters just weren't interesting. It was nice having the doctor as a reoccurring character this season, but Enforcer Ginoza wasn't as good as Inspector Ginoza, and most importantly there's no Kougami there for Akane to have undertones of romantic tension with.
