PS3 firmware 2.00 available anywhere?? - Blu-ray Forum

Does anyone know of a website where v2.00 can be downloaded?

I want to be able to play multi-channel SACD via the optical output and i've heard that firmware 2.01 only permits stereo SACD playback via optical out. As far as i can tell, the official Sony website only has 2.01 available.

even if ur update to 2.01...u would dowlaod all the features from 2.00 plus the extra .01...so nothing should change

No, 2.00 permitted multi-channel SACD via optical out whereas 2.01 changed that to stereo only (you can still get multi-channel via HDMI, but i don't have an HDMI receiver).

How would you revert to 2.00 even if you had it? Or have you not updated?

Find out which games shipped with upgrade 2.0, if any did, and you can grab it off of a linux install on the PS3.

I bought my PS3 in August and have not done any firmware upgrades. Thanks for the games idea.

well if you hurry up, go to the belgian playstation site, they are slower to update to 2.01 so as of this writing you still can have 2.00

2.00 was buggy as hell. If there is any way you could possibly avoid skipping it, I highly recommend it. The "Information Bar" completely froze my PS3 whether turning it on or off, and my game freezes quadrupled. Might just be an isolated case, but considering how fast 2.01 was cranked out, I assume it's not just me. Take it for what it's worth

If you aren't online it's fine.

Otherwise the PS3 will not allow you to go online with anything(play games, download stuff, browse the web) if it detects you aren't on the latest firmware.

2.10 is the latest firmware update at this time.

It was a cool little trick for those with older receivers for the PS3 to transcode SACD to DTS in firmware 2.00. It's a shame they pulled it in later firmware but if someone is willing to forego the internet for that they could live with 2.00 for a while. The big difference would be the lack of BD Profile 1.1 features.

Of course, given the low number of titles that use BD profile 1.1 features, there's not much urgency for any PS3 owner to upgrade right now.

Of course, but by that time there's likely a version 2.20 or higher that's ironed out the bugs of 2.00 (and perhaps even reintroduces the DSD-to-DTS conversion). Like I said, there's just no urgency to upgrade yet.
