Thumbs up I'm personally ended the format war....(for me)

Today I went ahead and ordered the Toshiba HD-A1 from the AVSforum powerbuy, my total out of pocket was $414.98 and that included "Sahara" on HDDVD!

I decided I wanted to have an HDDVD player that had the decoders built in and at this price it was hard to pass up!

I'll probably be getting rid of my xbox360 now as I probably won't need it anymore, all I was going to use it for was HDDVD I may still use it as a secondary HDDVD player should the unit come out and is inexpensive (under $200)

I will still mainly support Blu Ray, but should a disc come out on one before the other I won't have to wait, and I can now enjoy Universal pictures titles and Weinstein as well as all the Joys Blu Ray will bring this Fall.

These are good times we are living in brothers!

As I said at HD-DVD.com, I'm sure you'll love the content HD DVD has to offer. Again, welcome aboard! Buying both formats is what a lot of us will be doing. There's going to be just too much great HD on each format to ignore it.

I came to the realization over the last few weeks that trying to just take a side isn't worth it. The firmware keeps improving this player and while not perfect, it's got alot more going right for it then wrong. Given the fact that I will most certainly not get the quality of components this unit offers for the price offered now (audio decoders built in etc.) I figured what the heck. I really want to start watching some great HD content, and The BDP-S1 is still atleast 2 months away! I have a thing for several Universal pictures movies..."the Mummy series" Jurassic parks, fast & furious' and KONG to name a few. Those are just too many cool titles to miss out on.
Plus it makes a great upconvert player, so what the heck!

So I'll probably unlitmately end up with the HDA1 and PS3 in my living room, with HD-A1 using the 6 channel analogs on my receiver and ps3 will be limited to optical. connected to my 42" sony kdf42we655 3LCD.

Then in my bedroom I will have the BDP-S1 rocking over the 6 Channel Analogs on my pioneer vsx1014tx. and probably put my xbox360 w/HDDVD drive in there.

this way I can watch any HD source in either the comfort of my bed, or the atmosphere of my living room.

It's great having two setups!

if you buy a house, just think of all that space you'll have to play with your big (HD) toys!

I just bought my first home about 5 weeks ago. No way that was going to stop me from enjoying terrific HD. Now I've got a lot more room for the kids and a much nicer HT room.

Good luck in your house hunt.

Thanks

the place im looking at isnt huge but will certainly make do. the duplex im in now, i have a deaf neighbor. so i can watch gladiator at 2 AM while only worrying about the sub. with my own place, ill prob entertain the neighborhood.

and luckily, no kids, wife, or the like to have to support. makes saving for toys much easier.
