Default Limited Time Only?

Everytime I've seen an ad for Pirates 3 it always say "for a limited time only" what the heck?? They are only releasing the DVD and Blu-ray for a limited time only?

I wonder if there will be an exclusive pack-in of some sort?
It won't be the actual movie that is limited,
it would be a pack-in or a special offer included in this release.

I mean I hope so cause if that's true that's the weirdest thing I've heard!! Ahh! I just realized they are talking about the Two-disc version! But that includes the Blu-ray version, so the Two-disc dvd and Blu will be limited??

Here is a crazy idea.

Include with the DVD a special promo offer to send in for a FREE Blu-ray version. This would be a one time deal and must be done with a very popular title. This will serve two purposes. Educate them about Blu when they go to order it and second give them incentive to eventually Buy into Blu.

This will also encourage fence sitters who were planning on buying into Blu already. A little incentive and good buzz never hurt!

I'm sure there coming out with a Trilogy, atleast they better because thats what i've been waiting for. I liked the movies but like box sets even more and I hate buying the seperate films and then they all come out in a sweet box with better features and a better price. Maybe disney is planing some PiP treatment for their upcoming films, who knows. Just hopefully they will be out sooner than later.

I am not sure with Pirates, but with all the cartoons, Bambi, The Lion KIng, Cinderella, ect... they only release them every once in a while. Then they lock them back up in the Disney vault. Therefore, Pirates very well could be for a limited time only

AFAIK, nearly all disney titles are limited time only. they are in circulation for about a year, before being returned to disney vault. Aladdin was released 2-3 years ago, but now, you'll find it difficult to find the DVD, even in amazon (sometimes)

I wouldn't worry about it... it is not like they will be gone before christmas, or even after... I am sure they will be around for next christmas. In fact they want Blu-ray to win I am sure they are not talking about the BD being limited. They will milk it for all that they can and putting a limited time offer on a DVD works so they can re-release it again, but for this they will want to format to win so they will keep it out as long as they can before putting it away for another 5 or so years.

It's mostly marketing hype.

On almost every advertisement for a big Disney movie they say "for a limited time only".

ALL disney titles say "for a limited time only" and by that they mean until they feel like its time to pull it and put it "in the vault" and then it will be "re-released" in another year or two...

dont worry it wont be pulled for a year+ .... its jst how disney does things. lol

also i would be VERY surprised if there WASNT a trilogy boxed set out before xmas of this year.

You would have to require a receipt of a Blu-ray console purchase or else people who just get the copy and resell it.

Anyone ever think about the Disney vault when they were a kid?

Reason I ask, I remember when I was four or five hearing about the vault and thinking, here are all my favorite cartoons stowed away in a huge city-like room (Roger Rabbit style almost, but this was before Roger Rabbit so no singing once you opened the vault door) and they were able to converse with one another and everything else.

Sorry for sorta going off subject.

It is no real mystery, Pirates of the Caribbean will be going into the vault like most good Disney releases.

The reason thing are avail for as long as they are now on Disney stuff is that the distrubitors figured out how to get copies. Cannot confirm this is still what they do but what Disney would do is make a run of how many orders they got and it was done. So distrubitors started to order alot more than they needed in order to have them for at least a year. That is why some of the early DVDs are in such short supply and can cost so much.
