Opus Arte to start releasing operas on Blu-ray in Feb - Blu-ray Forum

Opus Arte has so far released an opera and a couple ballet titles on HD-DVD. I just sent them an email asking what their plans are for blu-ray, and I received this response:

Thanks for your email. We will be releasing Blu-Ray DVDs in February next year and hope to release one per month.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

No one cares? Even if you're not into opera, at least this means a studio is going from hddvd exclusive to neutral. That's definitely a good thing!

Take a pill, just because no one jumped on it and said WOW doesn't mean the no one cares... the people who would care are just far to restrained to have such a public showing of glee...

The REAL question is, which operas are they going to be releasing? There is a really good Carmen with Agnes Baltsa in the lead role from about 20 years ago that I wouldn't mind picking up

mezzos are SO much easier on the ears than true screaching sopranos.

I'd love to see the film version of Carmen with Julia Migenes and Placido Domingo released. That's quite an experience.

Also, the Ring Cycle...not the stinky one from the Met. But a sexy one from Bayreuth.

Opera I prefer live and drunk, but I'm definitely interested in the ballet titles
