Default Lossless audio support compared between HD DVD & Blu-ray

Lossless audio support comparison between HD DVD & Blu-ray on available titles.

HD DVD only 20% have lossless audio

BLU-RAY more than 60% have lossless audio

Another reason why Blu-ray is the right choice

This is not very accurate as Warner BD's are just ports of hd dvd so there is no room for lossless.

A more accurate and more legit way to compare is all exclusive hd dvd vs all exclusive BD releases.

Should be over 90% for BD, and 10-15% for hd dvd..

Indeed. If you remove Paramount films (as they are no longer available) the figures are even worse for HD-DVD.

Not exactly true. I don't know about HD-DVD (never touch the stuff), but 2001 on BD has PCM, and the Potter releases are said to have PCM audio as well; I'm sure there are others.

Warner's only puts lossless/uncompressed on Blu-ray if there is room for lossless on the HD DVD counterparts. Otherwise, they don't want Blu-ray "upstaging" the HD DVD movie.

3rd Rock from the Sun
Default Studio Lossless Percentages

Warner Lossless Blu-Ray (94 titles) = 21.28%
Warner Lossless HD DUD (116 titles) = 25.86%

Paramount Lossless Blu-Ray (30 titles) = 0%
Paramount Lossless HD DUD (38 titles) = 10.53%

Dreamworks Lossless Blu-Ray (3 titles) = 0%
Dreamworks Lossless HD DUD (6 titles) = 0%

Universal HD DUD (133 titles) ------> = 18.05%

Buena Vista/Disney Blu-Ray (50 titles) = 100%
FOX Blu-Ray (43 titles) ------------> = 97.67%
MGM Blu-Ray (13 titles) ------------> = 100%
SONY Blu-Ray (93 titles) -----------> = 100%
Lionsgate Blu-Ray (32 titles) -------> = 28.13%

Conclusion: Studios also releasing on HD DVD are reducing Blu-Ray to HD DVD's level + Lionsgate should get their act together (the only Blu Exclusive not pulling their weight when it comes to lossless audio).
