Default The Outing/The Godsend coming from Scream Factory

How is there no thread? Seems like tons of people were throwing fits because The Outing was previously only SD.

I've never seen The Outing, but I saw The Godsend a couple of times on Elvira's Movie Macabre when I was a kid in the early 1980s, and I'd love to see it again. That was such a mean little girl, and she reminded me at the time of this one girl at my elementary school who used to push people off of swing sets.

I'm not sure how The Godsend will hold up these days, but I might be in for this disc if the price is right.

It's good. Arguably one of the stronger Scream releases actually.

Shout released it in 2013

The girl wasn't just mean for the heck of it - The Godsend is actually based on the sinister ways of the cuckoo bird, which will lay it's eggs in another bird's nest. When the cuckoo chick hatches, it will destroy all the other eggs or chicks in the nest. When you watch the movie again knowing this, it puts a whole new perspective on it.

I was actually really impressed with the announcements this time around. I think it's great they're releasing many of the largely forgotten films. They can't all be Sleepaway Camp and Escape from New York.

The Outing is wicked little film with lots of gory violence and T&A. It has a bit of a mean streak though with some rather unsettling elements. I'm really happy this is getting the HD treatment as I was very disappointed with the DVD.

Cellar Dweller is just pure awesomeness and 100% cheese.

The Curse IV aka Catacombs was surprisingly enjoyable. I remember the VHS cover so well. I've attached a pic of it for those interested in a bit of nostalgia.

Haven't seen Godsend yet but looking forward to it.

The Outing seriously ranks among my favorite horror movie guilty pleasures. I used to literally rent it all the time on VHS when I was younger. I'm stoked that it's coming out in HD.

I'll still hold on to my UK DVD of The Lamp though, which includes the rare ship intro sequence missing from the US cut.

And what's also odd is that they've already released it under the Scream banner, but on a crappy DVD, so people are actually complaining about them upgrading something that has already been a part of their catalog.
Very confusing indeed! I think it's wonderful these films are getting HD transfers! I'm happy these movies are getting some love. We need companies like Scream to release these films or else they'll never see the light of HD. Actually, the only film out of the 4 I'm not really excited about is The Godsend but even that film I'm happy about. Cellar Dweller in HD? Awesome. Curse IV aka Catacombs in HD? Love it.

I realized this even while I was watching The Godsend during my childhood, and the father even goes so far as to state the parallel when he is trying to reason with his wife during one scene. Still, I think that the little girl is mean, mean, mean.

The way that you people are talking about The Outing really makes me want to check it out.

I'll have to pick up The Outing since it's one of those movies I never got a chance to see when it came out, and I don't think it's ever been on DVD.

Shout Factory released it previously in a 4-Pack DVD set in 2013, but it utilized an old video master for the transfer on that.

It's also been released in the UK with the alternate "The Lamp" version of the film.

I'd say it's pretty obvious that those "tons of people" were clearly a vocal minority. Today's releases are about as far down on my list of films to buy as they can be and yet still register on my radar.

Excited for The Outing, but wish it was paired with something else (like Destroyer).

Probably because there is a Scream thread and they are talking about the release in it.

I found The Outing to be a ton of fun. Some solid kills and I loved the djinn creature at the end.

The Godsend did nothing for me, sadly. I'll give it a rewatch in the future.

Yikes... I purchased this years ago and watched The Outing but never got around to watching Godsend. Here's hoping my disc isn't one of those affected as I'm well beyond any sort of exchange period.

Godsend is actually a pretty good movie. Don't recall an audio issue last time I watched my copy, which was about 2 years ago. Maybe it just affects some discs or its some kind of player problem?

Visual too. As the audio goes, so does the color. When the color comes back so does the audio in mid conversation.

pics of the fade out and back in

The rest of the film looked great! On my initial watch on dvd a few years back I did not care for it too much. But on my recent viewing, I really enjoyed it One of the few movies to break the taboo as a gaggle of children are killed off Great acting. I am super sympathetic to the father who keeps losing his kids one by one, and equally frustrated with the mother who stands by her boring adopted killer kid instead of tossing it out the window. I mean the kid has like zero personality. On the bright side they will be saving a ton not having to pay all those kids college tuition.

I just check my The Godsend and it does the same. I'm not sure if it's some kind of damage or if it's some kind artiste transition. Also the picture I notice got very grainy when it did that. I don't have the DVD anymore to see if it's on there also.
