Default David Lean and Navarone coming in 2008

"The Guns of Navarone and A Passage to India are apparently on the way in early 2008, with Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia expected to follow later in the year." Quoting Bill Hunt from thedigitalbits.com.

This is the news that I have been waiting on. Three of David Lean's later releases, and all four films absolute top notch cinema. Imagine the lush tropical setting of Kwai and the panoramic vistas of Lawrence. Now if Warner can release some of their epics like the Brando "Mutiny on the Bounty" then the format will be set.

I'm with you all the way, especially in regard to The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia. Not only are these films beautifully photographed and bound to look fantastic in BD HD, but they are wonderfully written and intelligent movies, the type that have been sorely lacking in the majority of BD releases.

This is huge and I can't wait. Paidgeek has hinted that the amount of money being poured into the Lawrence transfer is UNGODLY. That's exactly what these films deserve. Bring it!

Lawrence and Kwai are definitely some of the greatest films their generation and classics of all cinema history.

I'll no doubt be getting all of these. I'm not sorry we will have to wait longer for Lawrence and Kwai. Just take the time and do it to the best quality the source and transfer technology can allow. It will be worth the wait.

I already have Guns of Navarone on Pre-order.

Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence are definite buys. Lawrence was on Sky Movies HD a while back and it certainly looked very impressive indeed at even 1080i.

Every one of these is on my "buy" list.

They are what great home theater is all about.

Great news on Lawrence. It will sit nicely on my shelf next to the Blu-ray Disc editions of Lawrence of Gayrabia and Lawrence and My Labia.

To the veterans of this forum, yes it's a recycled joke. But it's my recycled joke!

I'm looking forward to getting those Lean titles, but has anybody heard anything about Blu releases of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO and RYAN'S DAUGHTER?? The SD PQ on RYAN'S DAUGHTER was exceptional and I can't wait to see it on BLU.

It's too bad Lean didn't live long enough to make "Nostromo".
