Amazon.com increase shipping for UK BD buyers

After years of the same shipping costs for UK BD buyers Amazon.com have increases shipping charges for us if you choose the cheapest of the three shipping options. The others seem unchanged.

With the cheapest option we used to pay $3.99 per order plus $2.49 per BD, making it $6.48 for a single BD.

Now this shipping rate applies for all Europe EXCEPT UK and Turkey who now pay
$4.99 per order plus $1.99 per BD, making it $6.98 for a single BD.

However Amazon.com seem to have screwed up the change as it currently adds $7.98 for shipping at checkout. Would need to order and get an adjustment via the online chat but don't have time for the hassle at present. Will see if they fix in next day or so as think this is a very recent change.

So it's gone up by 50 cents for a single BD? That's better than adding $10 like they did with the shipping costs on the Canadian site.

The UK and Turkey seems like an odd collection of countries, I'm wondering if there's some kind of ulterior motive here. But I've no idea what, so it's probably just me being silly...

I often get different amounts than the quoted prices at check-out. I don't think I've ever queried it either. My last order was $6.48.

A lot of my imports are from the UK Marketplace, I usually check there for titles on offer, as quite often the 2 big sellers there will have them.

Aye, the US marketplace sellers thru amazon UK are often cheaper anyway, I've bought quite a few discs from 'all your music' over the last couple of years. They're on ebay too, in case anyone doesn't want to give amazon the commission. Got Event Horizon for just under £7 delivered, for example.

Bumping thread as now over 1 month later the fault is still there. Have to do an online chat for every order I place to get Amazon.com to update my order to the correct shipping price for deliveries to the UK.

I am sure they are doing very well out of this overcharge hence no desire to fix as I am sure most British customers will not know they are being overcharged by $1 per item in the shipping fee.
