Default Concerns with Blu-Ray Reliability

It's no secret that there's been a lot of HDDVD vs Blu-Ray going on. I'm normally posting in video game forums so the PS3 and Xbox 360 camps have been going back and forth with the reliability and durability of the discs. To be honest, I've not heard any real world reports on how delicate or durable Blu-Ray discs are. I know this isn't the best place to ask because there aren't going to be any neophytes who leave their discs laying on top of empty pop cans or cleaning the disc on their jeans posting in here. I'm curious to know how Blu-Ray owners feel about the quality and durability of their discs.

Just out of my own curiosity, I've considered purchasing a movie and trying to mildly scuff it to see what it takes to get it to skip in a demo player at the store. Has anyone else attempted this to figure out what the threshold is?
