Default Best way to set up Audio

Okay. I am not a big audio guy, and don't know which way is the best way to set up audio. I got my parents 20gig ps3 for chirstmas and my mom bought my dad a new 1080p sharp. My dad has DD 5.1 surround sound system currently with his old crappy TV. Now which way is the best way to hook up the audio? The TV my mom got has Didital Audio out and Analog Audio out. The reciever is kind of old for my dads Surround Sound so I am not sure what inputs it has. Can some sort of Audio Techs give me a hand here please. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0093647&catid= there's the TV. Also I updated the PS3 before giving it to my parents. So should i put it on bitstream? Or Linear, or what settings should i use for the Audio out? Thanks for the help.

PS3 HDMI out to the new Sharp TV's HDMI in. Set the PS3 to output 1080p (either auto setting or 1080p setting)

Then, PS3 TOSLINK (optical) out to the optical in on your Dad's receiver. If it decodes DD5.1, then I suspect it will have TOSLINK inputs. Then, set your PS3 to bitstream DD to the receiver. If the receiver decodes DTS, then set your PS3 to bitstream DTS. If not, set it to PCM downmix.

HTH.
