Germany Koch Media to release Argento's Opera

Just read about this on a facebook Dario Argento group. It will be interesting to see how this release compares to the Japanese edition.

Unless the audio/picture quality is stellar, I think I'm going to wait for an English friendly release. I really wish Arrow would get their hands on this. Does anyone know who has the US or UK rights?

Might be Code Red in US, https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=264663

Koch have made some really good BDs in the past and some "ok" so will be interesting to see what they can do.

Koch did a slam dunk on their Inferno and Four Flies discs so I'm looking forward to it.

I'll also buy Bill's disc.

Their Inferno release is easily my favorite Argento experience on blu-ray! Totally agree. Very pleased to see Koch taking this on.

Pre-order is up!

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Opera-Blu-ray/135281/

I went ahead and pre-ordered it. I'm a bit nervous about Code Red handling the US release, only because I wonder if they have the resources to do it justice. And I just picked up Koch's Inferno and love it.

I'm gonna wait for screenshots before I order a copy. Need to see improvement over the Japanese edition.

Probably a good idea, but I wanted to lock in a good price (I ended up paying inflated eBay prices for Inferno). I'm hoping for an early review (but certainly not holding my breath).

That's the problem. I did find a couple of new ones out there (fortunately, I got mine new as well), but the shipping was around €27 to the U.S. Fortunately, Amazon Germany still has cheap shipping, so if I can get something there, I'm good. And Opera happened to be available, so...

Thats scalping on shipping costs. A small package, containing one movie can be shipped trackable via DHL to USA for under 10 €.

Maybe those companies had trouble with lost deliveries or something and stopped using DHL. I don't know what the reason is, but it sucks. I wrote to D&T Mailorder about it, but never got a response. I used to order most of my German/Austrian titles from them before they doubled their shipping prices.

Am wondering whether this release will be uncut. Can't help but think of Sleepless being censored in Germany. The first murder and the scissors moment (with the seamstress) ring alarm bells for me.

Well I ordered it via amazon.de. Hoping that it's an upgrade over my current Japanese version.

I ended up cancelling my pre-order. I'm just so far over my blu-ray budget this year. Plus it doesn't have English subtitles for the Italian soundtrack. But if it's a decent upgrade in PQ, I may still bite. Let us know what you think.
