Are you talking about technical quality on the Blu-ray or if the movie itself is any good?

I personnally love that movie because I am a kevin costner fan (even if wyatt earp is not one of his best actings... far from that
![]() but it still keeps a certain charm and make it watchable till the end. In western type movies, I prefer "unforgiven" or "rio bravo". "the searchers" is also wonderful! technically, it is of course better than all previous dvd releases but not a high performance from warner though. I think that they could have done better but once again, it was enough for me and I enjoyed movie. |

It's the World's Most Depressing Western, but worth a rental as one of the last good Kevin Costner films before his Dances With Ego days--
"Tombstone" may be the better OK Corral film (and "Unforgiven" the better "real-story" western), but I'll still put Dennis Quaid's Doc Holliday up against Val Kilmer's any day. |

I much prefer the extended cut that was released by Warner. I was hoping the HD version would be that one. I think I'll hold out a few years on this one to see if they release both versions in the future.
Original film: 191 min Extended : 212 min |

No, rent it before you buy it.
I saw it at the premier and at 3 hours it was repetitive and overly long. At least I got free drinks. -Numerator |

You know, to harp on the PQ of a bad transfer is one thing. But when someone gives a lower score to a film that accurately reproduces the way it was filmed is another. This transfer looks pretty darn close to the way it did in the movies, with its muted colors and softness used to try and emulate the past. The Godfather was shot with a yellow tint, yet some reviews point to this as a bad transfer. NO! This is an excellent movie and a STEAL at $7.99!

I will say that Kostner has this wooden delivery in all his films, like he has been called to stand up and read something he doesn't want to in a high school class. Kind of a nasal monotone. But in Wyatt Earp, its less noticeable because in many scenes his character is angry. I thought he was great in Appaloosa because his character was a man of few words.

W.E. is better in terms of cinematography, but Tombstone is more "fun" to watch in my opinion........
Wyatt Earp is a great film.... It depends on your taste in films also..... if you hate westerns, then it's a Moot point..... so what westerns do you like, and what ones don't you like? I can't speak of the Blu-ray transfer.... only have it on DVD. |

![]() It's a good film (imho) not as "exciting" as Tombstone but a better film overall with a much better Doc Holliday in Dennis Quaid without the funny one liners. Last edited by Elvis; 02-01-2010 at 11:26 PM. |
