![]() Back to the Jurassic $14.61 on amazon.com Tad the Explorer 3D $14.74 amazon.com $10.99 amazon.com $15.90 on amazon.com $13.51 amazon.com Reason for this thread is to list any lower priced blu ray 3D computer animated small budget movies and find out in one thread if they have worthwhile 3D in the medium to strong 3D range for layers and pop outs. Of the above, I've seen NWave's Turtle's Tale 2 3D and Thunder House of Magic 3D, and both are stunning examples of the strongest 3D possible for computer animation, not kidding at all about that. I like Thunder as a movie better, but both win big for 3D. I am interested in hearing how others liked the ones listed if you've seen them in 3D. Mild, medium, strong 3D? Post your thoughts. Thanks. ![]() |

I remember every film I watch that has decent pop-out but I can't remember anything much about the 3D in Back to the Jurassic (aka Dino Time) other than that it's nowhere near as good as The Croods. Tad the Explorer - pretty mild 3D in this one from what I recall, I got this from Australia. The US version has a better voice cast. I haven't watched Khumba, Zambezia, Animals United, Freddy The Frog, The Missing Lynx, Jets and quite a few others... |

There are quite a few that look very good but have no English audio, thankfully most of the German or Dutch releases are English-friendly, though often they don't have the American dubs. Just as an aside, it's amazing how many of these have Rob Schneider doing one or more of the voices... |

Not sure if this is an appropriate place but I figures some may like to know.
So if anyone is interested three such films including some of the above can be had really cheaply in a 2 for $30 deal (three films count as one as they are a package). Also likely to be a 20% next weekend which would make it $4AU for these three, assuming there is something else you want, otherwise it would be a bit over $5AU per film. Shipping may be a killer though for those not in Aus. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-...valour/637817/ |

Also Thunder and the House of Magic is at the top of my list as one of the best examples of home 3D. It's the one I like to show friends who want to experience home 3D for the first time. Wish they were all like this treasure. Last edited by dartfrog298; 11-05-2015 at 01:16 PM. |

I've seen a few of these. Although it must be said, that if there's another animation studio doing stereoscopic work like Ben Stassen's N-Wave, I have yet to find them. These days I don't pay as much attention as I once did, because there's enough big studios putting out animation.
One film I liked was Battle for Terra, which coincidentally bears similarities to James Cameron's Avatar. It's a variation on the same basic storyline, but with more modest production values. It's that rarity among western animated films: it has virtually no annoying comedy relief sidekicks. That coupled with competent 3-D work made it quite a pleasant experience. The visuals already show their age, but they're functional and do an okay job getting the story across. Another film is Monster in Paris, which I found a very mixed bag. It manages artistic brilliance one moment, and then is just awful the next. There's a standout musical number that'll stay with you long after the movie. But what hurts it most is that on a conceptual level, it's such an rubbish idea for a film. It's a perplexing mix of artistry and idiocy. The 3-D is unremarkable. A film I saw in it's original release, but haven't managed to acquire on blu-ray is Ben Stassen's Fly Me to the Moon. It was quite a basic effort, but I enjoyed the 3-D, and revisiting the Apollo moon mission. As far as I'm aware, it's only available in anaglyph. |

Thank you all for the information on those titles.
![]() For a unique look at cel animation being directly rendered in 3D through the computer, where the cel character actually floats on the flat floor background as if it was behind them instead of standing on it, check out War of the Worlds: Goliath. Mild to Medium 3D but there are some cool 3D scenes now and then. |
