Awesome! I loved MADtv, especially the early seasons. It premiered right around the time SNL was getting boring to me, so it was a great replacement. Some of my favorite performers were Phil LaMarr, Michael McDonald, Nicole Sullivan, Will Sasso, Aries Spears and Debra Wilson.

And I wonder if we can expect to see Steven Seagal.

And who can forget the classic Sopranos sketch? Cracks me up no matter how many times I've seen it.

I tweeted yesterday about how this show needed to come back...best early birthday gift ever!

Though, I don't feel like an hour is enough to do this justice. Hopefully this will lead to a series revival!

Once I realized this was just going to be a clip show I turned it off. Such a disappointment.

Wow, did not see this coming at all. The last season deserved an early mercy kill; If they get some good writers though, it could become a hit.

I hope this means that they will release seasons 5-8 on DVD now since those were some of the strongest seasons

When MadTv was really rolling it had some of the best sketches around and it didn't kowtow to the PC crowd.

Will Sasso and Aries Spears were always great in the same sketch. Remember the Snicker's commercial parody making fun of profiling? Anything Kenny Rogers was gold (especially Kenny taking the dairy challenge or attempting to catch a baseball with his teeth).

Hopefully it's as good as it was when the show was in its prime. Which it probably won't. Too many PC writers out there now, I'm not expecting this to be very good honestly.

Nicole Sullivan, Will Sasso and Bobby Lee Appearing on "MADtv" CW Revival
by Andy Swift
July 12, 2016

"MADtv" is bringing out the big guns to help usher in its new era on The CW. Nicole Sullivan, who starred on the original "MADtv" from 1995 to 2001, and Will Sasso (1997–2002) will guest-star in the new series’ premiere on July 26 (9/8c), TVLine has learned exclusively.

Bobby Lee (2001–2009) is also confirmed to appear in an upcoming episode.

Did you get a chance to see it? Some funny stuff, but mostly thanks to the classic stars appearing and taking the spotlight. Some new cast members are funny though, and have potential.

I noticed tonight Madtv is a repeat of episode 1 already. Not sure what that is about since the series just started. I was waiting for the newest episode since we're only about 4 weeks into the series. I missed last week's show.

I hate to be "that guy", but to be honest I think this new MADtv is some of the worst sketch comedy I've ever seen. The writing is full of jokes that are lazy, obvious, and uninspired. The new cast is incredibly bland and often come across more annoying than anything else, and almost all of their celebrity impressions seem half-assed. Sketches with returning castmembers are more watchable, but I couldn't get through the newbie-only ones.

I liked MADtv in the old days, especially during the Will Sasso years, but it started going downhill when longtime castmembers started leaving. This new version is even worse.

I'm not trying to be a troll here - I'm glad some people do actually enjoy it - just offering a second opinion for anyone who hasn't seen the reboot but was thinking about it.

Thumbs up

Mad TV 2016 is more of a spoof like Mad magazine is (having grown up reading it often). Mad Magazine features a lot of impersonations of current events, which this show is definitely focused on. It's humorous, though not hilarious yet.

Will Sasso, Mo Collins among other classic acts will be tough to top but I'll give the show a chance as each episode has me laughing or smiling now and then. This new season has already topped a lot of the recent years of SNL IMO, though that's been improving a bit in the last couple years from what I've seen. All opinions though, since humor is dependent on what one thinks is funny or not.

When MadTV 2016 didn't air tonight, I just found out there are only 8 new season episodes for the year. I hope this returns, as I was enjoying it for the most part and I like the new cast and comedy style. The impressions are nicely done too.
