Predator: 2K Restoration

A new 2k restoration of Predator opens in France on 17th August 2016.

From the trailer, the quality of the restoration looks promising.

Hope it makes it's way to BD.

The original blu-ray looks good but still has room for improvement. Hopefully we'll get the best version with this new restoration. Never seen that poster before, nice.

2K? the movie was shot on film - Fox should be doing a proper 4K restoration .... cheap bastards.

It's about bloody time on the restoration, 2K (oversampled) will do me fine for a movie of this vintage.

I wonder if the new 2K restoration will mean their will be a UHD release along with the BD re-release? Not that I care about UHD atm, and a 2K scan will mean the UHD version will be a glorified upscale, but still...

Well if they're going to be bringing it back to theaters, then I doubt it's going to be a 2k remaster on the big screen.

Most theater projectors are 2K.

I thought most major theater chains were playing 4k as standard by this point. What's the big deal here? I know the Marcus has been advertising it as standard in my area.

Btw, how can I find out which resolutions my local theaters are playing? I remember asking a few guys at the front desk before and they just say "it's the best quality available" (yeah buddy, we know you're marketing to the consumer and hiding details....)

Ask for the projectionist or manager and ask if their projectors are 4K and if the DCP is also 4K.
