Default new member with a serious question about where you stand in the format war.

Ok I have been been Blu since I first got a PS3 the day it was released. Right now I am up to 50 Blu-rays and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I check Blu-ray.com many times a day and finally decided to start posting and I have a very serious question.

Now I know everyone has been saying that WB is leaning toward going exclusively to Blu-ray at the beginning of 2008. But IF and i do mean IF for some stupid and crazy reason they decide to go HD-DUD and just make this war last even longer, Would you buy both HD and Blu?

There are many titles that I would like but are only on HD. I would just like to know where everyone else stands on this.

if WB went red, id probably stop buying HD media alltogether...ive spent enough already.

Id just stick to DishHD broadcasts.

You would hear of the first death by slitting wrists with a Blu-Ray disc.

No, Blu Only. If they don't want my money - fine. I can live without their movies (and I'll just rewatch the movies I have on BR and DVD). There IS a quality difference with BR, so if you make 'em BR, I'll buy 'em.

As long as they stay Blu, I will buy their movies.

I would only buy what is availible on Blu. If I must have the movie and it is not on Blu, I could always buy the DVD, but I bet i would just rent it.

I've still got my laserdisc player so I would keep my Pannys BD10 and BD30. I probably would back off on buying discs though.

True Blu all the way!!!

My feeling is that if Warner was going to go HD DVD, then it would have happened by now! They know they hold the key to ending this war and going red would only be suicide to the entire Hi Def format industry...IMO

Default Wtf?

Can't come to this forum and ask that question!!!

It's like this...we all chose Blu...and by choosing, you are telling me that you are a person of conviction!

I mean, you are either red or blu...

You are either PS3 or 360...

To me, it's one or the other...

Good for you two timers...how's your relationship? Cheat on your SO too?

Really...without Blu, I'd just play PS3 games and leave HD to my HDTV w/HD movies from the cable company...

I am hoping Blue prevails but it is not the end of the world if this is not to be. I currently own a PS3 which is the only HD capable machine I own so obviously I hope Blue is the overall winner. Prices on stand alone HD-DvD players are quite reasonable that I would have no issue in purchasing one if needs be.

I spent a lot of money on my first VHS machine, 4 head Hifi sound. I paid about $600 bucks. Then I paid a lot for my first DVD player. I paid about $900 bucks. I bought new ones as they became cheaper, and I was never under the impression they would last forever, but I wanted the best I could afford at the time. I paid A LOT less for my PS3 then I did for my first DVD, so I guess I could say I owe it no extreme loyalty.

IF ( giant planet sized IF here) WB were to go HD DVD only, It really wouldn't be the end of the world. I've already got my bases covered.

WB has made no statements as to what they will actually do. It's all just speculation for now. I seriously cannot see them going exclusive to HD DVD, this wouldn't be in their best interest. Blu-Ray has the sales, capacity, and consumer interest if they were to go Blu-Ray exclusive.

Blu makes the most sense.

This is a non-issue thread. It's like asking what if the sun went out tomorrow.... Um, I guess I'd invest in blankets.

NOPE-Will stick with BLU. If Warner goes HD-DVD will probably buy less movies and rent SDVD's and record HD on my DVR.

+1 I love HD optical discs, they're easily the best thing going for folks with the equipment to really see a big difference but if Warner went HD DVD it would be the death knell for packaged HD media and I'd dump my collection while it was still something other than a curiosity (see e.g., SACD and DVD-A discs).

Please, these are little discs that play movies not a relationship with another person. Good grief.
