New trailer

In all honesty, I don't see the point of adding the traveler character to the movie. Very corny IMO. I think Jet Li & Jackie Chan are enough to carry this film. I'm sure in some way he becomes the unlikely hero in the movie.

So, IS this a big-screen remake of that dopey "Not really the Monkey King story" Halmi TV miniseries from seven years ago (with a teen as the token-American lead instead of an adult), or isn't it?:

I thought Jet Li wasn't doing anymore martial arts films.

Anyway, I'll probably pick this up on Blu.

Exactly, I thought Jet Li was done doing epic/historical martial art films.

This movie does look interesting prospect for Blu-ray but I think "Red Cliff" by John Woo looks like 2008's best Hong Kong movie.

I'll go see it. Jackie Chan with dreadlocks is a big enough draw for me.

Forbidden Kingdom and Rambo are MUST have titles from Lionsgate. I am a BIG Jackie Chan fan, and this baby is not going to disappoint.

Default Doubt it

As far as biggest sleeper of 08 I doubt that. This movie will break records over in Hong Kong and it will be a widely known film. I thought sleepers are usually films that go under the radar like say the movie THE LOOKOUT for 07 and THE PAINTED VEIL in 06.

at least the producers were smart enough to hire Yuen Woo Ping as the second unit director and action choreographer. http://www.hinjang.com/m/forbidden_k...r0000U720p.mov (direct download, 720p and 109MB)

Yeah, the trailer showed Lionsgate so hopefully that means it'll be coming to blu-ray no matter what Weinstein does.
