I just saw like, 18 ads in the span of an hour.
I am TIRED of spoof movies, once they were an art a la Mel Brooks and Airplane - now any idiot thinks he can poke fun at a movie. It is not hilarious at all. Scary Movie 3,4, Epic Movie, Date Movie, this schiza...I'm about to go on a Dennis Miller rant here. |

anything after the original scary movie, have been horrendous. Why couldn't they stop with that. I know many still love these but I simply roll my eyes, and forget about it.

That is great. The commercial looks much funnier than the previous trailers for stuff like Epic Movie and Date Movie.
I will definitely see this one... Probably maybe definitely. The Spears spoof is well done. Everyone wants to push her into a well. Thanks for posting it partner. |

I was almost offended when I saw the ad spoofing 300. Well, southpark did and I thought that was prety funny. ![]() |

Being a big fan of '300' and a follower of contemporary pop-culture, I can see where this might hold a bit of entertainment value for ONLY ONE VIEWING! And I certainly won't pay more then a rental fee to see it.
And I agree with most that the "spoofing" trend has long since fallen apart. It was right after the 'Hot Shot' series and 'National Lampoons Loaded Weapon I'. |

Why do studios still measure success by the take at some podunk theater? |

Unlike some of y'all
![]() What was interesting was that they put in all the stuff that was edited out of the main movie back at the middle of the credits. These were extended scenes of improvs, not outtakes, that I didn't find funny. At the very least, the gay jokes were funny which is refreshing. For a reference of tired gay jokes, see Wild Hogs. fuad |

I find it amazing that people actually pay to watch this crap.
Generally speaking I'm not some kind of snob-nosed elitist who claims to have refined tastes when it comes to movies. I admit, I'll watch some stuff that I'm sure a lot of people would consider to be crap, and I can enjoy a very cheap laugh from time to time. And, there are a lot of movies out there that I think suck and and do nothing for me, but I can at least kind of see why other people do like them and why they make money. But then there are films like this, and this is where I have to say, I don't get it and I can't see why anyone would find this stuff funny, and it blows my mind away that this was #1 at the box office. As others have pointed out, these movies (Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans...) are NO WHERE near as good as the spoof movies of old. The older movies actually had writters and a plot. And while they were spoofing other films and characters from them, you actually would come to appreciate the characters in the spoof on their own merrits. But these newer movies have NONE of that. I don't even see how a lot of this stuff can even be called a spoof or a parody. It's more like piracy mascarading as parody. It seems like with at least a good portion of the things they are "spoofing", they aren't even really doing much to make of a joke out of it. Instead they are just re-enacting scenes from other popular movies almost per batum, only they are doing so very badly and have a goofy look on their face or something while doing it. How is that a spoof? These movies seem to appeal to a sense of humor that is a few steps below the absolute, rock bottom, scraping the gum off of the floor, lowest common denominator of a sense of humor that any human being is even capable of having. Do they get permission from the studios that make the films that they are "spoofing"? If not, I think those other studios should sue them over this crap. I know that legally there is some kind of exception for parody, but as I said before, it's more like piracy claiming to be parody, so I think there should be an exception here. I do think that when done correctly, spoofs and parodies can be VERY funny, and they are a great comedic form of art. But these movies DEFINATELY do not fall under that category. |

Finally saw Meet the Spartans.
First 5 mintues were hilarious and then dropped off like a ton of bricks. Save yourself 84 minutes of your life and don't bother watching it. |

This movie would be more appropriate as a special episode of a sketch show like Mad TV. Paying to watch this in the theaters is totally worthless. I will not rule out possibilities of getting it on DVD, though. It has some funny moments, but not all that funny. Some parts that were supposed to be funny never got a laugh out of anyone in the theater, while some made everyone giggle in the least.
