It´s a BD Live (Profile 2.0) player!

It took a long time for Sharp to actively jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon, but it looks like they are committed to Blu-ray more than ever.

At the CES conference press, Sharp unveiled their second generation Blu-ray player, the BD-HP50U. The new Blu-ray player, to be released next May, will support Blu-ray Profile 1.1 and BD-Live.

The player also offers multi-channel audio output via HDMI 1.3 connection by decoding Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD. It also decodes Dolby Digital Plus.

The new Blu-ray player has everything we expect from a 2008 device and not really more, but it clearly shows Sharp commitment to the Blu-ray format.

The little puppy is a bit pricey though...suggested retail price has been set to $799.99. But let's bet on a major price drop later this year.

Sorry, now it seems like to be not an BD-Live player. Only profile 1.1.
