Default Sony introduces 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

Yours for only $300

The 8GB should be more affordable soon.

I wonder if they've actually thought about this.

That's like charging more for the thumb drive than the laptop.

I'll get one after the price drops to a reasonable amount. I remember when the 1gb first came out they were rather expensive as well. Hopefully the price will reduce quickly

That reminds me of how much I paid for my 2gb when the PSP first launched, heh.

I'm sure this is aimed more towards Digital Cameras than it is the PSP.

How many digital cameras take 16GB of pics. I dump my pics onto my PC after about 512mb, just by habit.

They are alot less limited than PSP memory card purchases, unforunately.

The sweet spot for PSP memory card sales has been the 1gb to 2gb range lately.

The largest and latest MS ProDuo are almost always intended for the camera market [that's where the standard originated anyway ].

It's also why you don't see MS Pro Duo HG marketed towards the PSP.

I think it maxes out at 8gigs currently and even then some ps3s have trouble with them.

Hmm. Bizarre.

I mean, the Memory Stick Pro Duo standard has been set with the 32gb limit, since well... ever.

In any event, if it's a sony device, it should be compatible with up to 32gb Memory Sticks...

some electronics are designed to be cost effective... sometimes, to reduce cost, manufacturers limits some functionality, like maybe reduce the number of address lines... it might not be the case for the PSP, since memory stick address access might be software driven... just wondering... because some cellphones can't address memry that's higher than 4gigs...

Are those cellphones with Memory Stick slots?

And if so, which ones? Certainly not the Erickson line I hope.
