I saw this movie a couple weeks ago on HBO HD. Started out ok but I didn't like it at all. It was a mess of a movie and not in a good, 12 Monkeys, kind of way.

Arrived today, just popped it in for 10 minutes. I'm always 10 days behind.

First time I've seen compession artifacts on a BD disk, little squares on one scene. But overall it's pretty good PQ. This and 60 seconds are my first two H264 BDs and I'm very happy. Bros Grim has that high def sexiness thing going on.

Good oh, now give us Brazil on BD.

This has to be one of the most under-rated films out there. A large number of critics seem to dislike it. I can't figure out why they feel that way, but to each his own.

It is a must see for those who like Monty Python. Terry Gilliam's quirky sense of humor is everywhere in the film. It's like seeing an old friend again. Be sure to see the deleted scenes for a skit exactly like that in Monty Python is there. I liked the plot and found it engrossing. Don't let the title fool you, this film would scare the crap out of a child. It is intended for adults.

The picture quality is the best I have seen. No grain at night like we are used to seeing in some films. Chad said there is some grain on another post, but you would have to search for it. My advice is to buy it and enjoy it. If you have a 5.1 system play the PCM track and you will hear each channel fully utilized. This film is staying in my collection. I definitely recommend a purchase or a play if you are skiddish.

I think this film gets ripped by those who want to have slick CGI throughout. They wanted some scenes to use animatrons common in past Disney films. The interview with Gilliam on the extras goes over this point. This film is a blend of Python and Disney. If you were a kid in the '70's you will likely enjoy it as much as I did. If you weren't, it can go either way.

I haven't watched it lately but some of the scenes look outstanding. Unfortunately there is a horrendous amount of blocking in dark scenes later in the movie.
