Australia Not Another Teen Movie (2001) - May 2, 2018

Just 20 days until this release and I can't find much of anything about it. I'm guessing/hoping it will be a pressed disc (as opposed to the burned BD-R that the U.S. got), but will it be the R rated theatrical cut or the Unrated Extended Director's Cut, or both? Will all of the extras from both U.S. DVDs be included? Plus, I would have thought the cover art would be available by now.

Nope, no cover art has been released.. and details are only what are available from the distributor (see below) and even then, that has to be taken lightly as with Shock more often than not it will be wrong anyway. It will be a pressed disc though.

Will post the cover when I get it....

Anyone have this AU release? Is it a pressed disc? Picture quality vs US disc?

I don't own the disc but I can pretty much guarantee that it is a pressed disc as there has not been a single BD-R or DVD-R released by any Australian companies (please correct me if I am wrong).

Correct. I have a LOT of AU Blu-rays, not a single one is burnt. This barebones disc is the same, a pressed disc, Licensed from Columbia but released by Shock with True-HD 5.1 Audio and a video bit rate of 22996 kbps.

BDinfo:

Code:
Disc Title: NotAnotherTeenMovie
Disc Size: 22,714,324,987 bytes
Protection: AACS
BD-Java: Yes
Playlist: 01001.MPLS
Size: 22,637,813,760 bytes
Length: 1:39:47.272
Total Bitrate: 30.25 Mbps
Video: MPEG-4 AVC Video / 22996 kbps / 1080p / 23.976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1
Audio: English / Dolby TrueHD Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 3834 kbps / 24-bit (AC3 Embedded: 5.1-EX / 48 kHz / 640 kbps)
It looks OK for the most part, the compression isn't the best but what can you do...

As Davidian pointed out, it's a barebones disc, and there wouldn't be any extras judging by the disc image vs. the size of the feature either.

I went with the Vudu UHD streaming version for $15. I've got the idea some scenes were cut so will have to check into this further. I remember a line where foreign-exchange student Areola says they don't wear clothes in their country unless they're cold... This line seems to be missing now. I will have to investigate this further, probably by playing the HDX version.

No extras with this either.

There’s an extended cut, and currently the only disc release of it is this Australian disc.

Well they sure have this Region B disc locked down. I'll have to get out my LG BH200 to play it. The usual stop/top menu trick on the Panasonic and Pioneer players doesn't work on this one. First time I've run into this.

update: Played it. Fantastic sound and picture. I saw no problems. There are a couple of scenes in the R rated version that are better, like the two Japanese guys karate kicking the guy pretending to be Japanese and the football coach and that guy with him doing a bunch of spitting. Several more scenes of Areola in this Australia version and the playing time is 100 minutes so it's quite a bit longer, which is a good thing. No extras. TrueHD 5.1.

And forget the UHD R-rated streaming version. The sound on it is a total disaster (out of phase and Dolby Digital Plus). The sound is fine if you play the HDX version. I tried to get a refund from Vudu. They ignored me.

I finally got around to getting this. At this point the only option was eBay but at least it was a sealed one. Had a quick look-see and while it is watchable it's not going to win any awards in the PQ category. Happy to at least have the extended cut on disc but this really needs some TLC for a future edition, though I'm not sure how high up this is on Sony's to-do list.
