Default Onkyo 605

I was all psyched to buy this with my tax returns this year until I read this review on CNET. Although they gave it the editors choice, I might not be understanding this.

Specifically: "all 1080i signals via component are downconverted to 720p when output over the HDMI output. Furthermore, 1080p signals via the component video input cannot be output via the HDMI output at all. There are certainly work-arounds for these issues but they involve complications that HDMI-equipped receivers were supposed to avoid."

So if I have my PS3 hooked into my Onkyo via HDMI does this mean I will not get a 1080p picture? Or is it just componet cables I have to worry about? If I loose PQ for AQ that is something I am not willing to do. Please let me know if I am reading this wrong. Or should I go with the 805.

Thanks,

As long as you have your PlayStation 3 connected to your receiver via HDMI and are outputting 1080p via HDMI you should have nothing to worry about.

The only way to get 1080p is with HDMI, the 605 does flow-through of 1080p signals via HDMI only, component is capped at 1080i.

EDIT: I do not know about the 720p downconversion of 1080i feeds via component however but just use the PS3 for DVD and you will be fine.
