![]() ![]() The Pianist (2002) Blu-ray According to Amazon it's remastered. Hopefully it's remaster and not the same UK/NL/FR release. Such a good movie, deserves the best. Last edited by Pieter V; 07-25-2018 at 10:27 AM. |

If it's substantially better than the StudioCanal digibook I'll double dip.

Awesome news, that means Studio Canal will probably release the remaster in the UK too. They’ve been going through their catalogue titles recently, doing a lot of 4K remasters, so I figured they’d get around to doing The Pianist, and hopefully it should look great, as the old master is pretty dated.
Escape From New York and The Fog next please. ![]() |

9 minutes long for a cardboard and plastic fetish vid. I bet he was naked when he filmed this.
Yep, as usual with these videos, they're extremely useful for judging the presentation of the film. |

Peops have a look at art haus's own web site here, it gives good reason to believe that the new blu is remastered

jerclay ref That might as well be. The biggest question, however, if it has English subs for German dialogues?
Sorry!!!! Do I miss some thing??? The disc is clearly aimed at German customers, what useful purpose would English subs for German dialogues serve? Did you read the link I provided???? |

Listen, all I’m saying is I would have been tempted to double dip if it had English subs for German dialogues because I don’t speak German. And since they don’t have them, it’s a no go for me, remastered or not. The rest of your comments make no sense.

Update
This German version does not have any English subtitles and only has German subtitles for dates, name places etc. It Does have a DTS master 5.1 in German and English. As far as the picture goes, I could not see any difference from previous Blu-ray. The extras are SD in English. Unless Ive missed something I'm not impressed |

On the subject of subtitles...on the original UK single layer BD-25 bluray there was an error when German was spoken (not all parts, just a few) and you would expect English subs to appear, they was none.
StudioCanal fixed this and there was a re-issue done and you were able to claim a replacement disc. This was the release before the slightly better BD-50 version that was released in a digibook. So I assume on this new German release those few parts when German is spoken (and you are watching with the English language option chosen)...that those few sections will have pop up English subs...? Anyone?.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
