Wink Avengers 3 movie UHD ( info from people who’ve purchased).

FandangoNow has Avengers 1-3 for sale in 4K UHD for $59.99. I didn’t even know these movies were filmed/mastered in 4K resolution. Since there’s no other place to buy these in 4K, how is the streaming quality of FandangoNow in 4K? I’ll have to see if I can do a preview/trailer of each of these in 4K to see what it looks like, because these would be the perfect movies to get in 4K resolution. However, it doesn’t say if any or all are in HDR, so I’ll have to call to see if that’s offered. I’d buy on Itunes if I knew they’d be upgraded to 4K but since they are not offered in 4K anywhere else it kind of scares me. I’d love HDR but would still buy if only in SDR 4K. Anyone know the details of these on FandangoNow?

They're probably HDR10 on FandangoNow, but I know for sure they're HDR10 + Dolby Vision on VUDU.

I think Avengers 3 is the only one mastered in 4K, while Avengers 1/2 were mastered in 2K. Someone with more knowledge of film can correct me if I'm wrong here.

I'm most interested in the non-resolution based visual upgrades (HDR10/Dolby Vision) anyway, but if true 4K resolution is important to you, something to consider.

All 3 movies come out on tuesday in 4K UHD disc with digital codes, so if you can wait until then, you can have the best of both worlds, the 4K discs and 4K digital movies. And according to Vudu, all 3 digital movies are Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos.

There is an Open-Matte version (IMax?) of the movie doing the rounds on the interwebz. I wonder if this version will be included.

Here is the comparison...

The problem I have w/vudu is they crop the OAR, at least they did on The Dark Knight. They took all scenes and made them 1.85:1, instead of just the action parts. I know Avengers 1 was 1.85:1 or similar full screen picture of a 16x9 display but not sure of the other two films OAR.

If you are concerned about the aspect ratios, then just wait until tuesday and buy the 4k blu rays which will definitely have the proper aspect ratios and the digital codes will just be an extra bonus. P.s., if you have your video services linked up through movies anywhere, then you will be able to watch the movies at any of the services linked up, which include Vudu, Fandango Now, Itunes and Amazon. So I am sure one of them will have the proper aspect ratio of the Avenger movies.

I do not believe there is an Imax option. At least there isn't on IW. I watched it the other night.

I think open-matte is just basically a zoom in (losing picture on left & right sides) but somehow not losing any picture quality

This is the 4K and Bluray comparison

Normally I would agree with you, but if you look at the comparison link you can clearly see that the open matte version gains picture on the top, bottom and right of the screen, but loses a little on the left side of the screen.

I still haven't got my $3 credit from Vudu for preordering this. Anyone else?

I saw that, though I think it depends on each scene, for composition. Some scenes losing picture on left, top and right, others gaining picture right and bottom

More differences here
