Ha! I was just about to say the same. I'm keeping tight my France release from Metropolitan Film, even though, it has 2.35:1 aspect ratio instead of the original 2.40:1.

Don't see it dropping much lower unless buying a used copy. Otherwise, you'll be demonstrating a lot of patience and faith between now and 2023 for the 30th anniversary to be delivered proper. Should that come to fruition, it won't be without a 4K UHD edition and I expect that one will look stunning. Maybe that's why Sony has it now, maybe they worked out a deal to handle a new 4K scan of the film? |

With what happened with "Sleepless in Seattle" (Where it was the same old TT and Sony International transfer) I don't think these Sony MOD releases are going to get the same kind of treatment from Sony's main releases.

So does this mean Sony got the Morgan Creek catalog?
Now, what to do with my extra copy of the real disc? Keep as backup in case, or sell off cheap since I got it cheap? I'm also noticing 2 featuretttes and a photo gallery on the WB disc are not listed here. Other than that it sounds like a BD-r of the existing disc. Can't imagine a new transfer on something like this, and a true shame this classic film is relegated to MOD status. ![]() |

I'm actually really surprised that Shout didn't land this title. This would've been a "Collector's Edition" double-dip that most people would've actually been excited about.
And as for the Morgan Creek catalog, I don't care if it's Sony or Shout, bring me Pacific Heights, White Sands and Young Guns II. |

True Romance is a true classic. I first watched this on VHS tape several times back in 1994/1995, when I was in college - long before I saw any of the films Tarantino actually directed (Pulp Fiction, etc.). Excellent dialogue & story, and is one of the few films I've seen that really stayed with me long after I my initial viewing. It's also a film that I've enjoyed more on each subsequent viewing.
Too many great scenes/sequences to highlight, but here are some: Gary Oldman stole the scene(s) he was in; what a true sleazebag - and I mean that in a good way . At the time, I'm not sure I realized he was a British actor, especially considering he disappeared into his "urban pimp" role so well The dialogue between Christopher Walken & Dennis Hopper in the trailer was very grim (since you knew what was going to happen to Hopper), but extremely funny & un-PC as well; difficult dichotomy to pull off, but was done extremely well here The scene when the James Gandolfini gangster character [Show spoiler] Good soundtrack. I'm not an Aerosmith fan by any means, but "Take me to the Other Side" fit the scene(s) it played over so well that I think it was probably the best song for this sequence. Plus, the song came out in '89, so this music typified the era to some extent as well. |
