Moderator note: The Queen's Corgi has only been released on 3D Blu-ray in the Netherlands (Holland). It includes the U.S. English audio track but not the alternate UK dub. All other releases worldwide are flat.

(Note: I did an advanced search for "queen's corgi" under Title and it didn't bring anything up, thanks for merging here.)
![]() NWave's newest film, The Queen's Corgi, is likely to be in 3D as with other NWave films, and may reach theaters, considering audiences tend to like movies with dogs as the stars. (Being released through Lion's Gate Films, who aren't too supportive of 3D blu ray.) NWave is known for offering much of the strongest 3D in animated CGI films with Turtle's Tales, House of Magic, Son of Big Foot, etc. http://www.nwave.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Queen%27s_Corgi Teaser Trailer of NWave's Queen's Corgi, the feature film planned for some time in 2019. This is out this week in Switzerland, in 3D, but only with French audio (I'm bilingual).
Worth paying £9 / $12? Help me decide! ![]() The official 2 minute trailer was released this week and reveals a lot more (dialogue is actually included this time): I saw the 3D teaser trailer a few weeks ago and was underwhelmed - or at least it definitely didn't strike me as a new nWave 3D film ![]() Not to mention the immaturity and the fact that the queen's last corgi died in 2018 ![]() Unfortunately Italy and Holland are only getting a 2D blu-ray (Spain doesn't seem to be getting a physical release). |

I didn't hear about the Queen's corgi dog dying in real life. I guess this film will help keep the dog's memory alive. The film looks sort of interesting, and dogs are usually a good subject for movies about animals. The scene at the dinner table looks comical, and reminds me of Leslie Nielsen in Naked Gun the movie, where he was trying to protect the Queen, but things went wrong to comical effect.
But if you've seen the strong 3D in NWave's prior films, then supporting this in theaters in 3D would be a great choice, especially to experience more of their amazing stereo 3D presentations. As long as Ben Stassen is part of NWave, then I imagine their 3D films will continue to be strong. The NWave opening Logo itself is a perfect example of the strong 3D experience they're all about. |

I'm glad I took your advice and saw this today Zivouhr.
Great consistently strong 3D, plenty of fun pop outs that can get really strong, and dimensionality stretched as strongly as one can expect from digital animation (any stronger and it would probably be doing 3D a disservice, giving even me a headache). A lot of the 'camerawork' is close to the ground at corgi-height which helps. Notice I'm avoiding the word depth because stereographically speaking the depth is mostly very shallow, but what's nice is that all the consistently strong dimensionality is achieved beyond the frame! Most of the image is always beyond the frame, which is a rarity. ![]() The film itself is watchable but I can't see myself re-watching anytime soon despite the satisfying 3D. A few small jokes are apparently directed at adults, for example the coke bottle served at Buckingham Palace for Trump is labelled 'Cov-Fefe' in the Coca Cola font; Prince Philips reads a book titled 'How To Kill Your Dog' (actually those are the only two examples). But it's not that funny otherwise, for any age, other than occasional visual gags, but nothing like the regularly amusing Secret Life of Pets; clearly they focused their efforts mostly on story and the character's journey. Indeed one thing that's vital to point out is that most of the film takes place in diverse environments outside of Buckingham Palace; it's like Secret Life of Pets in that all of the trailers misleadingly showed the pets in domestic scenes that all appear in the first 10 minutes, while the vast majority of the actual film is spent adventuring outside. In my opinion that's a good thing, as it changes things up visually; however people hoping for a film set mostly in the palace might be disappointed. There are absolutely some questionable decisions made in terms of story. For those people here (if there are any) who care about spoilers for this film, I'm spoilering the examples: [Show spoiler] Anyway. Worth a watch for 3D fans (glad that NWave haven't let up on their strong stereography!). But maybe not more than once, at least for an adult. Not worth a watch in 2D unless you're mad about corgis or the Queen. |

Thanks a lot for the 3D review Rwc. Great to hear NWave continues to offer strong layers of 3D to keep things exciting, more than nearly any other major animation studio in terms of stereo 3D.
The story telling will hopefully be their next task to master, I agree. One thing I've learned is that if they're writing a script, having earlier story threads pay off later on in the film is a great way to tie up loose ends and really have a bigger impact with the story, compared to starting a clever or intriguing idea and then never paying it off later on. Sometimes those linked story ideas don't arrive till later on in the production process, so it's a good idea to allow room for "reshoots" to add or change things to better suit the story. Character motivation and so on. |

Seems that there will be NO 3D Blu-ray due to German news. Only flat versions everywhere in early listings...
What a shame! ![]() ![]() ![]() NWAVE + Ben Stassen Master of Animated 3D but no 3D Blu-ray release. WTF Last edited by xootoo; 06-21-2019 at 09:59 AM. |

Cool. If you hear back, feel free to post any news. Thanks.
If there will be a blu ray 3D, it would be for the UK hopefully at least. While the films are visually nice with much strong 3D in many of their films, the stories could use refinement since they're a film studio with more resources. Son of Bigfoot was interesting, but the 3D was generally impressive, but a slight bit toned down compared to Turtle's Tale 2. |

With no 3D disc for Son of Bigfoot in the UK i have zero hope for this, such a shame. I bet Ben Stassen and his team are very disappointed after delivering such great 3D.

Now it is Wild Bunch instead of STUDIO CANAL. But Wild Bunch seams to be very 3D friendly, because they released Operation Nutcracker 2 on 3D Blu-ray totally unexpected here in Germany this year. So I can not understand why they should not release Corgi in 3D... Last edited by xootoo; 06-25-2019 at 07:56 AM. |

Son Of Bigfoot was released in a number of cropped and English-unfriendly 3D editions, leaving only the Brazilian edition as an option for English-speakers. We'd be lucky to get the same again. |

Thanks 13thman, I must have missed that regarding Son of Bigfoot. So Brazil is the only English friendly option, a shame.
