Default Doctor Who Out of Print Re-releases on MOD

It seems 10 Doctor Who stories that were previously out of print are getting MOD re-releases 25 Jun 2019 and 9 Jul 2019!

https://shop.bbc.com/doctor-who/shop...assic-who.html

For some reason, Three Doctors Special Edition is included, despite Season 10 coming to Blu-ray 15 Oct 2019 (too late anyway). Keep in mind these are US releases. BBC Shop no longer has a UK online or physical branch. Only online in US/Canada.

Also available for the June releases at Barnes & Noble
The Time Meddler, The Krotons, and Planet of the Spiders are also at Walmart.
For pre-order of course.

Well, The Movie Special Edition was removed from the BBC Shop and this is the only place is was being sold at. Hopefully that put it back up.

New listings for The Gunfighters, The Dominators, Colony in Space, Terror of the Zygons, and Planet of Fire were listed on Amazon and Best Buy with a release date of 23 Jul 2019. No cover art and Amazon says "Currently available" with Best Buy searchable (and pre-orderable?) but listing to an error. BBC Shop don't have these yet. No UPCs either. So i don't know. Maybe. They're good choices for ones that are not getting Blu-ray releases anytime soon. Season 3 is WAY of, Season 6 though was rumoured for next year but that's iffy, Seasons 8, 13, 21 are not in any rumours and Season 8 is far off anyway. So what do you think?

From an email from BBC Shop advertising the MOD releases. The Movie SE seems to be cancelled.

That was an advertisement email, but yep it is. I contacted BBC DVD Support NA and it's due to last minute rights issues, it got cancelled. Not surprised.

If I remember correctly, Fox owns a portion of the '96 telemovie (in North America) -- so any last minute rights issues are probably all Disney.

And yeah because of that we never got a VHS, 2001 DVD or this new one.

Does Warner still distribute BBC titles under their behalf? Because maybe BBC can use that to re-release the movie since Warner and Fox released the original Batman series on DVD/Blu.

Still, I don't see why BBC just doesn't do DVD editions of the seasons sets that are currently on Blu-ray?

Because the Blu-ray releases are intended for Blu-ray only. Plus they're doing these MOD releases and some stories that have Blu-ray releases are coming out: Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, Revenge of the Cybermen, Castrovalva, Black Orchid, Meglos, The Keeper of Traken, The Three Doctor SE, Battlefield, Ghost Light, and Survival.

Why do they have to make these so hard to collect?

They are made on demand. And sometimes Amazon doesn't even list these, they have most of them, except Rescue/Romans which was not on Amazon for a while and when they finally did Amazon themselves don't sell it.

Very savy Doctor Who fans can always get an all region Blu-ray player since the DVD releases are still all available in the UK and the bluray box sets are more special in the UK, Australia, and NZ with booklets, package design, and disc art

While they may be true, some Americans are not willing to go the extra mile for a region free player AND even the UK gets limited releases and the sets go for 100 pounds or more now.
