Hey everyone,
Apparently, an Australian company called Umbrella Entertainment is releasing Jackie Chan's "Who Am I?" on blu-ray in August! Here's the actual website. https://www.umbrellaent.com.au/comin...i-blu-ray.html Is anyone else able to get some info about what it will be? Apparently it will have two cuts, one in HD and one in SD. Also, it says the HD feature will be 1:78:1 and the SD feature will be 2:35:1. Also, I can't remember if "104 minutes" was the US cut or the original Hong Kong edit. But blu-ray.com is saying "120 minutes." I really hope it's not 1:78:1, unless it's an EXPANDED 1:78:1 instead of cropped! Otherwise it's useless. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE Okay, so I just received a reply from a representative of Umbrella. Here's what he said. Quote:

I just popped in my US DVD to check. It's 108 minutes and 2:35:1. Maybe the 104 minute runtime is only for the SD version. My guess is it's the same international version as the US DVD but with PAL speedup. Hopefully the HD version is uncut. Either way, we're not getting the uncut version in HD with the OAR, so that's a disappointment. I haven't seen that version yet, so an English-friendly release of that cut would be welcome.

I think another factor is that Umbrella doesn't seem to care anymore. They've been on a steady decline since January, which is alarming.

How so? Sure, their social media has been a shambles of late, but I've still bought a lot of their recent output, such as Death Warmed Up and the Day/Strike of the Panther double and had no issues with them. They're still putting a lot of effort into their Australian and NZ titles, which is where I'd direct my scant resources as local distributor.

Germa Forum Person asked and both Versions are the USA Edit only.
HD 1.78, SD 2.35 Thanks for the email. Both versions are the US version as it's the only version the rights holder for this territory has. Same goes with the HD version being 1:78:1, its the only HD master they had available. That's why we made the decision to include the SD version in the original aspect ratio. This is one of the most pointless releases I have ever seen. No uncut version, the 1080p version is cropped. Why would I buy this release when I can just watch my DVD which will he the same as this release. Saves me money for a release that actually warrants a purxhase.

Its a real shame this particular film by Jackie Chan has been overlooked, I'm biased towards it but I think its one of his best. That fight on the rooftop is the stuff of legend and then falling down the side of that skyscraper directly after was so cool. Gotta keep waiting for a proper release I suppose...
