No. Spidey will probably see an uptick since its back in IMAX but Labor Day Weekend is usually a dead zone, that's why nothing major comes out this year.

I won't be surprised if this year is like 2017 Labor Day where the #1 movie barely cleared $13M over the 4 day.

I'll probably go see Far From Home again if it's in Imax but kind of surprised they're still bothering to go ahead with it now. Very bad timing and seems like a downer at the moment. Especially the post credit scene which was once a highlight of the movie. Before all this I would have said it had a shot at #1.

I saw the Matrix in the theater again just a few months ago.

I doubt it's even mathematically possible for The Matrix to win the weekend, given it'll only be on a couple hundred screens. Spider-Man has a shot, but I wouldn't bet on it.

These re-expansions never do that great. No way would Spider-Man: Far From Home ever be #1 again even on a slower weekend like Labor Day. And obviously The Matrix won't be either.

Why didn't you mention Don't Let Go? It's the only wide release. That won't be #1 either of course but it should be mentioned.

Most likely #1 will belong to a hold-over. I'm thinking Good Boys but we will see how it does this weekend.

Wow 26 films made a million dollars each that weekend. I doubt we will get half of those numbers.

IT Chapter 2 should have released next week. Could've made bank
[Show spoiler]Not that it probably won't anyway.

I doubt it. However, I'll be contributing to Spidey's numbers.

It's not the only wide release, there's also Bennett's War.

Either way, I can't imagine them topping the box office.

Neither will. Angel Has Fallen will make around $10 million and every analyst will start wondering why even though Labor Day is a horrible movie weekend every year.

Besides, very unfortunate timing for Sony. The re-release will definitely be affected by recent news.

I honestly wonder how many people even know anything about the "recent news." I think sometimes we, those of us who are on sites like this and constantly read about this sort of thing believe that the general public somehow has the same sort of information. Or, frankly, that they care.

IMO, the general public goes to see movies in genres they like and which have stars they enjoy.

Even if people have seen something on say Twitter, I would argue that the vast majority of people couldn't care less about any of this stuff. It's like the discussions we have about things like X-Men continuity. Does anyone really think that the average movie goer gives it any thought or cares? I mean, sure, for us it can be interesting since discussing stuff like that is what we do here.

I'm not even sure what "recent news" you guys are alluding to. Is it the Marvel/Sony split? Why on Earth would that make general audiences not want to watch a movie?

Being "all over" your Twitter and Facebook really applies only to you and people sharing your interests. The news has not been prominent on my Facebook (mostly friends and family) and Twitter (mostly sports) accounts.

I also wonder how many movie-goers actually care about movie "universes" or extended scenes.

With a potential hurricane and bad weather in the southeast this weekend, I suspect people around here will just look for a fun flick to watch.

Well I hadn't even heard of that movie until showtimes released for my theater on Monday. Wasn't listed as a wide release on Box Office Mojo at the time.

With how well Angel Has Fallen did last weekend that will obviously repeat. But Good Boys will be good for #2.
