I’d been contemplating the upcoming South Korean release but this sounds good too.

I am so, so in. No matter the cost. This film absolutely devastated me. Can’t wait to own it in good quality.

I’m so glad to be region free.

I've actually never seen this. But curious and like canal+ releases, they are really doing a good job bringing their catalogue to the fans.

Would be day one!

After releasing Climax I thought that maybe Arrow would have Irreversible.
But StudioCanal can also do a good job. Could this be a UHD release?

EDIT: only just saw the press release, it is only a bluray. But still great!

Wouldn't be much point bringing Irreversible to 4k blu ray as it was only shot using 16mm film. The benefits would be minimal over a well handled blu ray disc.

The sound on the other hand would benefit from a Dolby Atmos or DTS X track. As there is actually alot of low frequency effects in the music around 20hz that they used to heighting the panic.

There have been quite a few 4K masters of 16mm movies Released on BD and UHD), they look great too, but like you said it would be minimal.

Have pre-ordered the Kimchi one. Delicious artwork.

The straight cut seems wrong to me - watching it in chronological order, wouldn't that greatly diminish the impact of the movie?

If the PQ is much better on the SC one, I'll get that and put the disc into the Kimchi release.

It's like the chronological cut of Memento, probably "fun" to watch afterwards. Irreversible ain't a fun watch though

They missed a trick not calling this version "Reversible" like Ozon's 2x5 version of 5x2.

I'd definitely prefer a 4K. Maybe on it's 20th anniversary.

I've heard about this movie and am interested in watching it but don't know if I can stomach the fire extinguisher scene.

Oh that's pretty tame compared to another scene.

I just don't understand why there is a straight cut. The whole driving theme is we lose more and more of our innocence as we travel through life.

I like the movie the way it is but that theme doesn't diminish just because there is a straight cut. It will just start off with innocence and ends with pure guilt as the running time moves forward.

I guess. But it certainly felt more unique in the reverse. I'll remain open minded. Never good to outright dismiss something till I've seen it.

It is not
[Show spoiler]cathartic at all, because it is the wrong person.
I'm not sure about it, but I think the straight cut will destroy the whole experience here...

The only purpose of the straight cut is to show how good the original cut was.

Does anyone know if this was finished on film or a DI? Hopefully a new 4K scan but with all the special effects it may be impossible.
