Good quality German production for 2014. Medium 3D throughout. 1.78:1 ratio fills the screen nicely. Younger kids will like it more than older kids-- kids that understand German that is.

Only German audio tracks and region B locked. My kids watched it while listening to the English track of the US dvd release:
https://www.amazon.com/Rescue-Rabbit/dp/B01M34OU4T

It's worth muxing. One of these days...

Bit of a shame though. Added to the foreign releases without English language list.

Quick version: I resynced the US English DVD audio and subtitles to the German 3D Blu-ray release.

Link to subtitles (I also uploaded the unmodified DVD version as a separate release):
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/sub...n-im-korper-en

For the English audio, I created two versions: the first is silent in missing segments, and the second retains the German audio in those moments. Both are 5.1 tracks exported in LPCM and AC-3. Let me know if you want to use one of these with your own disc! If someone is aware of a site dedicated to this kind of edit, I can upload the audio there too as that would be easier to share.

--------

More detail:

After acquiring the German 3D Blu-ray and the US DVD with the goal of muxing them together, I found that the DVD has a different cut of the film. A handful of scenes were extended by a few seconds on the German 3D version - around 40-50 seconds of additional material in total. I popped both versions of the film into DaVinci Resolve to find the differences, and ended up adding silence in missing segments to fully sync the DVD's English 448kbps Dolby AC-3 5.1 track with the German cut. Obviously this is not the most seamless solution possible, but it's a lot better than it being out of sync haha. I also created a version that cuts over to the German DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio for those segments, attempting to keep the volume in check as best I can.

I am amazed anyone was able to handle watching them in this way! On my copy it's not a minor difference of a few miliseconds, it desyncs quickly and gets significantly worse throughout.

The LPCM tracks are ~2.6GB and the re-compressed AC-3 tracks are ~256MB apiece. As for the subtitles, they were OCR'd to SRT and then I manually retimed with SubtitleEdit/PotPlayer to take the changed segments into account.

Here the relevant segments (timestamps approximate):

3:15 "I can do this" line extended in the 3D release
3:27 "get out of the way" is extended in the 3D release
4:38 "in these shoes" is extended in the 3D release
14:37 after "test on a human" is extended in the 3D release
30:33 "no idea" lines different in 3D release but timing of audio unaffected
37:14 line added in 3D release missing from dvd
39:55 line inserted after "what have you done with my granddad" in the 3D release
40:06 additional shot in the 3D release
49:04 after "i got them to sign a waiver" is extended in the 3D release
50:47 extended after exclamation in the 3D release
52:58 after "oh!" is extended in the 3D release

Let me know if you have any feedback!

Wow. This is way above my paygrade. You are the man.

Actually, it's not too hard and I've become pretty adept at re-syncing quickly during playback, as long as it stays linear. This movie was much easier than say, Underdogs (dvd)/Metagol (3D blu). Give that one a whirl.

Anyways, we'll definitely have to have your people talk to my people.

Wow, amazing haha. I cannot adapt to that myself!

Which country's release of the Metagol 3D Blu-ray should I get? Are they all the same? Same question for DVD, I will definitely buy them.

I've got the Brazilian and Dutch releases:

but I've only watched the Brazilian one. The Dutch is still in it's shrinkwrap. Both are 106 minutes on the disc covers, and a quick search of the other Metegol's show them as 106 minutes as well. Still, when individuals enter different region releases, the lazy ones just copy over the previous entries... Oh, to answer your question, I have no idea.

The DVD (US release "Underdogs") can be had from many sources, UPC 013132622583, in the $5 range used.

Dude, I don't know. I feel guilty for even bringing it up. This project might not be worth the effort, unless your goal is to achieve a headache. Going by memory, whoever cut the U.S. release should be shot. Most snip a few seconds here and there. This guy took a cleaver to it. Off all the 3D-blu-ray-video-to-dvd-audio playbacks I've done, this was the worst. "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!"

Addendum:
the DVD's have different cuts:

US release "Underdogs" is 86 minutes (Weinstein Co. release-- they butcher a lot)
UK release "Unbeatables" is 93 minutes
Is it possible they are the same cut with the time differences caused by PAL/NTSC differences? It's been so long I forgot how it goes...

PAL runs 4% faster than NTSC so if it was the same cut, the UK version would be shorter.

This film appears to have a lot of different local versions, it probably needs a thread of its own.

Appreciate the info! I will look for the cheapest 3D copy available to me that's 106mins which sounds like all of them.

Thank you for the heads up Ok, yeah at under 86 minutes... almost 20 percent was cut relative to the BD?! That is an absurd difference. At that point a significant number of lines will lack any English and thus watching will basically require subtitles anyway so you're right, it's not worth doing the audio. There are a few subtitle translations floating around online so I'll just need to get those synced with the 3D release which should be easy!

The cast for the dub includes Ariana Grande so it's possible they only budgeted to record the bare minimum number of lines to save money or something haha

I was surprised to see how many there are having never even heard of it previously!
