Default La Ronde (Bluebell Films)

Holy smoke! This film is money! The restoration, picture quality, clarity, sharpness...My my my!
It's a shame there is no dedicated thread yet for this masterpiece of cinema.
Hope this thread will bring some due recognition to this title!

Do you happen to know which Blu-ray release is the better edition? Screenbound released this and is listed as being a AVC codec, while the Bluebell Films edition is not. DVDBeaver does not compare these two editions, but does a review comparison between the Criterion DVD and the Bluebell Blu-ray. It gives the Blu-ray a slight edge in video.

If you go to DVDCompare.net here: http://www.dvdcompare.net/review.php?rid=5818
The review states that the Bluebell Edition (which was sub-licensed from Screenbound) is a step down in PQ and AQ is compressed, if I'm reading it correctly.

Regarding the Bluebell Edition: The same HD master is used, but the new Blu-ray is encoded in 1080p24 MPEG-2, looking brighter and finer grained than the Criterion, but surely MPEG-4 would have been better, especially for a BD25.

I've updated the Blu-ray.com database to reflect this.

Overall comparison between the various Editions here:

https://www.dvdcompare.net/compariso....php?fid=50442

OVERALL: Blu-ray ALL
Screenbound and Carlotta have uncompressed audio and AVC encoding, but only the former has English subtitles.

So, according to DVDCompare, La Ronde SCREENBOUND Edition, though still not perfect, is the one to get!
