Never heard of this before but really like the sound of it. Looks like a great package from Eureka.

Just don't expect a lot of kung fu action in this one, more of a general action comedy.

I do like a good comedy and just really enjoying this who trip into HK Cinema with these beautifully restored prints.

It's a great film and a great showcase for the talents of Lam Ching-ying, it's just not really a kung fu film, it has little flashes of kung fu. IMO Lam Ching-ying was perhaps the most underrated screen fighter of the era and he demonstrates his typical elegant skill.

The only disappointing aspect of the Mr. Vampire announcement is that they didn't or couldn't put together a Vampire boxset of at least three films or preferably more, but I would be lying if I said the rest of the series didn't offer quite drastic diminishing returns. I'm glad Lam snagged a leading role in an iconic franchise before he was tragically taken too soon though, and perhaps if this release sells well (and it hopefully should) then Eureka might be encouraged to put the sequels together in a future boxset release.

Like many UK fans my first viewing of this classic flick came when Channel 4 did a season of HK flicks and this was one of those first time experiences that you could never forget.

Such a shame that Eureka couldn't do a Box Set with the other sequels but what we get here is still a fantastic release.
It's only May and we've been blessed with Zu, Dragons Forever, some classic Shaw Bros flicks and we've got Throw Down and Operation Condor to look forward too, I just hope the rest of the year is as fantastic as the first few months!
Thank you to everyone involved in getting this beauty out, your work is truly valued amongst us HK Action fans!

I still have this on VHS and I must have seen it 100 times. I used to watch Mr. Vampire and Spooky Encounters (aka Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind) on a weekly basis. Gonna have to import this. I have the sequel on DVD but it's not as good.

I foolishly bought the HK blu ray released last year that was revealed to be an upscale. So this will should be a huge step up.
