Profiler and The Pretender (TV series)

Similar query to the one I asked about yesterday in the new thread (for the Australian DVD release of Crossing Jordan: Complete Collection), for the Australian DVD release of Profiler: The Complete Series.

The A&E release (in the States) of the first season of Profiler contained every episode except one, "I'll Be Watching You". Apparently it was because of the repeated use of the Police song Every Breath You Take. Does the Australian release of the series include this episode, and if so, is the music intact?

Are there any music substitutions in the rest of this boxset?

Did only the first season of The Pretender get a DVD release in the States? I think the show is with Disney now, as Twentieth Century Fox was one of the production companies for some of the four seasons. It also states on it's IMDb company credits page that the show has had a DVD release in Germany (don't know yet how many seasons were released there).

The show did two crossover events with fellow NBC series Profiler, and was followed by two TV films on TNT.

All four seasons of The Pretender and both TV films were released on DVD in the US. I've had them since they first came out.

Not sure if the music is intact, but they specifically outline that it is included as a "bonus episode":

Unfortunately, the Profiler episodes were not included. However, despite being crossovers the Pretender episodes don't have cliffhanger endings, so they still stand on their own, which is nice.

Apparently, all four seasons of The Pretender were re-released in 2009 with new packaging, but I'm not sure what the difference is. I assume those were in standard DVD keepcases, whereas the originals have thin cases that slide into a slipbox.

Could be. Sometimes when older TV series get slimline releases, they have less discs. Hopefully this re-release from just over ten years ago has the same number of discs.

Thanks for your help with the crossover episodes query. I'm thinking about getting the complete series set of Profiler (won't get it just yet). Hopefully it should contain the bonus episode "I'll Be Watching You" from the first season, like in the boxset containing the first two seasons of the show.

Maybe with a revisiting of The Pretender, I'll enjoy the start of the second season. When I saw the show on it's original run here (it was shown on Sky One I think), I really liked the first season. But then in season two, they changed the theme tune (didn't like the change at all), and I found Jared to be a bit preachy and smug.

I caught a bit of Profiler when it was shown on (I think) Living TV (it's had different names, including Sky Living, and now Sky Witness). The episode I watched a bit of was "I'll Be Watching You" (the song Every Breath You Take by The Police is apparently played a few times in it).

I remember that when

Michael24, another question, but to do with the Australian complete series/collection boxset of Profiler (and I apologise for asking this, as I've seen the answer before but forgot). If the set is Region 0, would that mean the episodes are at NTSC speed and not PAL speed?

Afraid I don't know. I only have The Pretender and am not familiar with any of the Profiler DVDs.

Regarding that saying "you learn something new every day", I've learnt something new. I had thought there were just two two-part crossover events between The Pretender and Profiler. So it turns out there was one further crossover (but just the one episode).

I don't check Wikipedia much because it's had a reputation over the years as not always being very accurate (but the goof-obsessed IMDb isn't always correct).

I'll have to check Amazon again, as when I checked the last time, I could only see the original DVD release of each of the four seasons of The Pretender.

It isn't for the Australian complete collection/series DVD release, but there has been a DVD release of at least the first season of Profiler in Europe, and it includes the episode "I'll Be Watching You" (source: DVD Compare).

Maybe in the back of my mind, I've read it a long time ago. Did Profiler get new showrunners in the third season? I've seen some comments about the series in the past few days, and there was one review which suggested the series went downhill in the last two seasons (especially in the fourth season).

Have checked eBay and Amazon.com, and I can't find the (apparently) re-release with new packaging. All I can find is the original release with four double-sided discs in the season sets.

Sorry if I sent anyone on a wild goose chase looking for re-releases of The Pretender. It's possible the information I read was just wrong or it was for a foreign release.

No need to apologise. I was looking for the American DVD releases (either in new or used condition), because I'm thinking about getting the Profiler complete series release from Via Vision.
