Hugh Grant. He's charming, goofy, and has just enough talent to make his roles believable.

Really odd ball one, but hear me out. Jack Klugman of Odd Couple TV series.
Watch him in the old Twilight Zones, The Odd Couple, Quincy, or any role he has played. His style has never changed and yet was always good. Comedy or Drama, he could do it.

Now, the likes of William Shatner, you can see how much he sucked then but today....well. We still love William Shatner.

He was very underrated. He was great in 12 Angry Men, and yes, his Twilight Zone appearances were wonderful -- especially "In Praise of Pip" and "A Passage For Trumpet." He did a lot of excellent live TV in the 50's too, but since it was live rather than film, there are no high-quality copies of most of the shows. It's a shame really that he's best remembered for The Odd Couple -- fun show but he was far better than that.

Same is true of Ernest Borgnine. If you've seen "From Here To Eternity" or "Marty" you know he can really act -- but now he's mostly known for McHale's Navy and Spongebob Squarepants. A shame.

Let me add Daniel Day Lewis to this.

Michael Fassbender would be the new up and coming
