I have a PS3 set up via HDMI to a Denon Amp and 1080p infocus IN81 projector. Love it all apart from 1 thing. When I play blu-ray films, I quite often get white lines flash up on the left hand side of the screen for a frame. Obviously the more involved in the film I am, the less I notice it, but it must be happening at least 10-20 times per film. As you can imagine, it can be very annoying and offputting.
I have narrowed the problem down to the PS3 as my Denon DVD player is upscaling to 1080p and I don't have the same problem. It appears sporadically and never in the same place. It has even happened while the film has been paused. Any ideas on what might be causing this? I have read in other posts about checking the 1080p 24fps setting. It is set to 1080p, but I don't know if it is set to 24fps, I'd have to check tonight. Any help or ideas would be great. Cheers sa |

All cables are snug. Playing games looks great and haven't had any problems with those. I think most play at 720p though. Might be worth me checking later if a bit of dust has crept in. Take them out and blow on all connectors.

There is a simple way to check if your projector can display 24fps.
In the ps3 the is a option witch let you turn 24fps to on, off or automatic. If you put it to "on" and if you play a blu-ray movie, and the screen turns black your projector does not support 24fps. you can find the setting under display settings or bd/dvd settings, can't remember wich one. Hope that helps |

Is this a regular issue? I have seen people mention flicker before but not white lines. Is this a side effect of 2:3 pull down ?
I have just checked the spec of my projector on the infocus web site and it is 1080p/24 compatible. I guess that rules out that option. Any other ideas anyone? ![]() |

I also have the 'flicker' or 'white lines' problem.
Does it maybe 3 - 5 times per movie, and not always in the same place. I watched Big Fish and it 'flickered' 5 or 6 times. Watched it again, and didn't do it once. No problems with upscaled DVD's or games. It is becoming annoying. I have turned off 24fps, changed my HDMI cable and checked all connections, but it hasn't helped. Maybe I need to take it back to the store while its still under warranty. Unless someone here has a fix for this problem. Last edited by PS3_Kiwi; 01-22-2008 at 10:29 AM. |

I have wondered if it is a warm up thing with the PS3. I notice it more at the start of films than the end. However, this could also be down to the fact that I'm more into the film by then, so don't notice it. Unfortuneatly I am very aware of video glitches when they do appear as it is part of my job.
However, if you didn't see it at all second time around, maybe it is a warm up thing. ![]() ![]() |

Even though my projector supports 1024p / 24fps, last night I checked a blu ray that was flickering. I set the 24fps to on, and it was still there. I set it to off and it dissapeared. I watched a whole film without it appearing.

I recently purchased a PS3 and it plays games wonderfully. However, my blu-ray dvd shows with flickering and flashing along the bottom of the screen, especially when between cut-aways in a scene. We took the dvd to the store and they played it on their PS3 and it was perfect. We run the PS3 via HDMI to our AV receiver, then HDMI to LG plasma. I tried running the PS3 directly to TV via HDMI, same problem. Switched out the HDMI cords, same problem. Per the guys at the store, if it is playing games fine, then it should play movies fine by converting the signal to 720p. I have put the PS3 on all settings, and each one gives same problem. Anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it?
