Default Anyone else miss NFL 2K

I was trying to find the answer but i cant. Does EA hold the exclusive rights to the NFL like for forever, or just a certain amount of years? Because personally the last game from sega(NFL 2K5) was in my book, THE madden killer!
everything about the game was better than madden to me, and i just want to know if we'll ever see it again.

What was unfortunate about 2k losing the NFL license was the NFL themselves asked EA if they wanted rights to their license exclusively. Of course EA jumped all over it. What led to that was NFL 2k5 being priced at $20 and the fact that Madden sold millions of copies every year at regular price. The NFL wasn't getting their money back on the investment of giving 2k their license.

Fast forward now to 2008.......Madden '08 sold 100,000 less copies (5%) this year than Madden '07 did. So hopefully when EA's contract with the NFL is up the NFL puts their license back on the free market again allowing multiple companies to buy and use it.

Personally I enjoyed the 2K series (especially on Dreamcast). I don't think that team is intact anymore, so if they got the license back I don't know if it would do any good.

NFL 2k5 was the bomb for the PS2. I have yet to buy a Madden game.

As far as I know the license runs through '09. Personally I'd like to see a NFL '10 The Show. The funny thing about "The Show" from Sony is that MLB seems to be on its way to be the best baseball franchise available (better than The Bigs and 2k) while NBA seems to be on its way to be the worst basketball franchise available (worst than Live and 2k)

Well sony used to make NFL Gameday back in the day for the original playstation, don't think they ever made it for PS2. I think the first one was decent, but the ones after that were kind of bad, but that was also when Madden was it's prime I think. But I have to say the last NFL 2k's blew madden away, graphically and gameplay wise. I agree that madden has sucked for quite some time now, and I feel like there new games are not truly next-gen. They are the same games as the PS2 and Xbox, just a little better graphics, nothing special. Unfortunately All pro, is a decent game, but without the NFL license, they made no money and will not continue to make it. I also think that EA has the license for longer than 1 more year, I think it was 8 or 9 years. But, I do miss MVP baseball from EA. That was pretty good, it got really good it's last year before MLB went exclusive for 3rd party games with 2k Sports, which I am not much of a fan of there games. MLB the show is much better gameplay, but there graphics aren't quite up to par yet. From what I have seen of MLB 08: the show, the graphics look a little better, but not much.

I haven't played it, but 2K sports did release All-Pro Football this year. Since they couldn't use the names of current players or teams, you use all-time players (Jerry Rice, Elway, Montana, Sanders, Payton) instead. I heard it was pretty good, and by now it's at a bargain price I bet.

And yea, I miss it. I thought it was head-and-shoulders above Madden, esp. the play-calling via the VMU on the Dreamcast.

I do miss it on the Dreamcast. I had the one with Randy Moss on the cover and enjoyed the game greatly.

The all-pro football game was a pile of trash and almost, I repeat almost, made me go out and purchase Madden. I rented it and was so disappointed, and I made a promise to myself to not pick up Madden 08.

And if EA doesn't fix the problems that were in NCAA 08, I won't be buying that either. I'll be down to picking up one sports game this year (MLB 08)
