Universal Studios Sing 2 3D Blu-ray (2021) [Region Free] READ FIRST POST

Sing 2 3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray Withdrawn version missing images from right eye (does not affect 2D disc)

Sing 2 3D Blu-ray Corrected version

Sing 2 was dumped out flat on disc worldwide everywhere except Australia where Random Space Media briefly released it on 3D Blu-ray before withdrawing it due to on-screen text (lettering on signs, business cards etc) being missing from the right eye view.

Turbine in Germany have now released a corrected version on 3D Blu-ray.

Both editions are REGION FREE.

When RSM's pre-orders were sent out a small issue was discovered (on-screen text is missing from the right eye view). Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment were unwilling to fix it so the release was cancelled.

Only the Turbine disc contains the corrected version.

Hi everyone!

As most of you are aware our team has begun processing pre-orders for our upcoming 3D releases Sing 2, Minions: The Rise of Gru and The Bad Guys.

Unfortunately we have been made aware of the weekend that there is a defect with the 3D disc for Sing 2.

Our team has been in touch with Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment regarding the issue and we are working closely to see if we can rectify the issue.

Currently Sing 2 3D will not be available to order until this issue has been resolved.

Furthermore, we will not be shipping any more copies of Sing 2 3D.

We are very sorry for the issue, however we kindly ask that you please be patient while we try to fix the problem.

We will provide further updates on this post as they become available to us.

Many thanks,
RSM Team

Felt great to see the trailer in the big IMAX aspect ratio and it felt even better to see that RealD 3D logo at the end. Overall the film will look spectacular in 3D from the footage showcased in the trailer.

And this is a Universal Pictures film, so a 3D Blu-ray release will be great if they continue to support the format, just like 'The Croods: A New Age'.

I watched the first one with my wife and fully expected to dislike it, turned out to be pleasantly surprised. If Universal does a 3D BD release I'd definitely be on board for that.

Well it would in most cases, but still tons of a Covid lockdowns and other restrictions in some areas. I believe the first one came out around Thanksgiving time and family movies do well during the Xmas holidays. Well at least from the 13 years of working Xmas holidays at the theatre is any indication. Plus, they still have Minions 2: Rise of Gru in the can from last year.

I just saw the trailer for this last week and was surprised to see the 3D Logo at the end. I hadn't heard that it was going to be released in 3D.

Fingers crossed for a 3D Blu-ray! This is made by Illumination and distributed by Universal. The last Illumination movie on 3D Blu-ray was The Secret Life of Pets 2 which got a 3D release in a good number of countries. The most recent Universal 3D Blu-ray is Boss Baby 2 which is getting a release in a handful of countries. So there seems to a decent chance for this one!

There is really a high chance for a 3D Blu-ray. The Illumination team lives for 3D! Their passion is to make 3D movies!

Does Illumination’s 3D quality approach that of nWave’s? I don’t think I’ve seen one of theirs yet.

There isn't a single mainstream animation studio putting out NWave level 3D, however Illumination have had quite good 3D in some of their movies. I'd say it's around Dreamworks level for a lot of their films like the Despicable Me series.

Illumination is excellent, not NWave strong but it beats the hell outta Disney or Pixar.
And story wise they are better than Disney or Pixar's newer stuff IMO.
I absolutely love the first Despicable Me and as far as Dreamworks, Megamind is my all time favorite

Agreed, I just hope this movie is as cute and as heartwarming as the first. I was surprised how good that one was!

Tickets are now on sale for this in the U.S. I see a lot of Real 3D screenings for it. That might be the only premium format it gets.

Nice! Some of it reminds me of the Madagascar films with the vibrant colors and animation.

So far looks like this is not getting a 4DX 3D release in Regal from their advance listings. Interestingly, it does have very limited 3D showings at Regal, but specifically not at 4DX theatres. Seems like 3D is reserved for 4DX showings at 4DX cinemas?

Its because Spider Man (opens December 17th) will be playing there, it will take the 1st 2 weeks on all premium screens.
