Paramount There Will Be Blood (2007)

Just got back from seeing There Will Be Blood at The Alamo Drafthouse and I must say that this might be my favorite movie of the 2007-2008 Oscar Season. Does anyone know if Buena Vista will handle the home video distribution or will it be Paramount. It would be great to own this one in Blu.

i think paramount vintage produced the film but Disney has the distribution of it. i dont see this one coming to blu until paramount jumps back to bluray. One my highly anticipated titles....Paramount/dreamworks get your @%$ in gear

This movie was produced and released by different companies. No one knows who has control over Blu Ray. This is the information according to IMDB:

Production Companies
Ghoulardi Film Company
Paramount Vantage
Miramax Films

Distributors
Paramount Vantage (2007) (USA) (theatrical)
Miramax Films (2007) (non-USA) (theatrical)
Buena Vista International (2008) (Argentina) (theatrical)
Buena Vista International (2008) (Singapore) (theatrical)
Buena Vista Sony Pictures Releasing (BVSPR) (2008) (Russia) (theatrical)
Miramax Films (2006) (USA) (theatrical)
Paramount Pictures (2007) (USA) (all media), probably means no Blu Ray in U.S.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (2008) (UK) (theatrical)
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (2008) (Netherlands) (theatrical)

In the US, it's Paramount (therefore HD-DVD exclusive).

In the UK, it's Miramax (therefore Blu-ray exclusive).

It's that simple.

I suspect the bold is what's causing the confusion. From this list, we can't simply ascertain which studio has home video distribution rights for North America. I'll be importing the Blu-ray if necessary, but it would obviously make my life easier if it was released on Blu-ray here.

I saw "The Eye" today and it also is a Paramount Vantage/Rogue Pictures release.I was wondering whether Paramount Vanatage was the same studio as "Paramount".Looks like "The Eye" will be an HD-DVD only release in the U.S. as well.

Default stupid regio codes

just (pre)orderd there will be blood blu ray at play.com(regio2) low price
but agree on those stupid regiocodes
i order a lot from the states(regiofree) sometimes you have to wait more than a year for a release in europe and pay the double price

Good movie, but I enjoyed NCFOM better. There is no replay value in this one for me. I couldn't stand the way he treated his son. I don't need to see the trainwreck again.

Even if Rogue had the distribution rights, it would be HD-DVD, since Rogue is part of Universal.

I saw this recently in the theater and saw Paramount and Miramax in the opening title.

I ran the the gamut of emotion before the movie started.

So Paramount has more power over Mirimax? Correct me if I am wrong but wasnt No Country For Old Men a Vantage/Mirimax film?

I couldn't see if a thread has already been done about this (not crazy about the search function on this site). Anyway, will TWBB be coming out in the US on BluRay now that Paramount has returned to the format?

I really want to own this one if hi-def.

It's only speculated. There has yet to be any announcement from either Uni or Paramount releasing any blu-rays. But don't be surprised if it happens. I sure want it to.
