Default Help with HDMI Switch

I'm finally tired of switching out wires every time I want to use a different device. I have an xbox sx, PS5, 4k player, and apple tv 4k. Which switch would be best for me? Do I need 4k 120, or is 4k 60 fine?
any brands better than the others?

Depends on your TV, if you have enough 4K 120hz inputs keep your consoles plugged in and keep whatever device you use the most in your TV as well. Also depends on how many HDMI inputs (assuming 3?) you have and if you need eARC or ARC.

Lots of choice on Amazon, just read the reviews if you need 120hz.

Was wondering if anyone knew why can't my older Denon 3808ci decode DTS HD Master or True HD , (is it because its HDMI 1.3 ) I'm having a lot of problems getting the receiver to work with HDMI with my UHD player and tv . What am I doing wrong to not get the HDMI to work the right way ?

The best I can get my discs to play are DTS Surround using optical / digital coaxial . The GUI is the worst ever , looks like an Atari game . The receiver is fine 130 watts by 7 . I don't have a set up for Atmos and won't for sometime and the prices of receivers are sky high . Rather invest in a bigger OLed if I can get this to at least decode the blu-rays to the best they can be . It still sounds great .

But do I get The Marantz 7015 and be done with it ? I hear it still has some quirks and probably why it's the only Receiver currently 50% off . With every company that has upgraded there lines I do not see Denon or Anthem with big sales . Something about this Marantz that's got me wondering what's wrong with it with all this back stock .

I absolutely hate Audyssey and have that turned off . Made everything sound like crap . I Did the microphone on a tripod like it said to do and ran it 20 times over and over .

The Denon 3808ci is at times a pain in the ass so I don't touch the settings , I almost took a hammer to it a few times . Hit 1 wrong button and no sound at all for hours to figure out .

For sound correction Dirac sounds to be better but Marantz or Denon do not have it . Only Onkyo has it (affordable) in the RZ50 , But have read some really bad reviews about the Onkyo . I need sound quality and clean power .

One last thing I have always liked DTS over Dolby anything , What's DTS X and X Virtual , Is it something discs have to encode or just a manipulating the sound ? If there is a better thread for this can someone direct me to it .

Anyone that can help me save $1600 I would really appreciate it .

I have 2 sources in my HT and 2 HDMI inputs on my projector.

Run the high quality source (Panasonic UB9000 disc player) directly to your display
Run ATV4K streaming box through the AVR to the display.

My processor is old (Marantz 7702MII) and it does terrible things to HDMI signals with no ability to bypass. It clips video to video levels if not more and does not pass HDR10+

I hope I never need an HDMI switch but I suppose they could be fine if they worked good.

Default IOGEAR HDMI 8 Port Switch

I recommend the below HDMI switch. Well, I have the 2K version. I own 5 of them which are in use daily. Never as much as a hiccup over the course of many years. They perform flawlessly. Control them via the RS-232 port.

IOGEAR HDMI 8 Port Switch - 4K @ 60Hz - 8 in x 1 Out - True HD and DTS HD Master Audio - Auto Switch - IR Remote Control - Front Panel LED - GHSW8481

There’s a 16 port switch you might be interested in. Let me see if I can find the URL.

With 16 ports you could switch between 15 Sony BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray players and a single disc Sony BDP-S5000ES Blu-ray Player.

I'm getting that 64 port after I win powerball tonight. It's $9500 off and only $26K now. That's a bargain and a steal I can't resist!

In seriousness I bought this 16 port in 2020 for future proofing and only have 9 in use.

Still not sure why I need more HDMI if my receiver & tv already have them ? I'm just trying to figure out how to get the Denon to play DTS HD Master & Dolby True HD.

Nice! I see it has RS-232 control. That checks one box for me. And one of the Amazon reviews confirms the Auto-Switch feature can be disabled as well. That checks the other box. Tempted to purchase one of these just to have on hand.

No one is saying you need more HDMI inputs. You posted in a thread about HDMI switches, hence the subsequent posts about HDMI switches. That being said, AVSForum.com might be a better resource for you. They've got a forum section called "Receivers, Amps and Processors" with dedicated threads for Denon receivers.

I think the first fews posts had good info.

In my case running through the sound processor clips the video range and strips HDR10+ and also who knows what else is effected and there's no way to tell the thing to be nice to the HDMI signal.

I only jumped on what I thought was sort of funny when I posted about the other switches. I tried to give good advice first.

(Sort of don't want to know if there is a 128 port option but if you chained the the right way the possibilities are endless. One way to get around having to load discs - just use as many players as you have discs)
